Wow wow wow after reading some negative reviews about DDI I was so glad I still went ahead and booked.
From the minute we got of our ferry we were greeted with a lovely necklace and guided through to reception . Check in was easy and our bags were delivered straight to our room from the ferry.
Large room , clean and great view.
This resort is amazing from the foyer you walk through to the living reef , underwater viewing which we layed down for ages on cushions , loved this. What a stand out for a resort. Pool areas , swim up bar is great , heaps of seating and cabanas to choose from. Water bit cold but from October should be fine. All around the island is coral , everywhere , amazing. Lovers Cove is such a little romantic gem , gorgeous at sunset.
Restaurants were great , fast service , nice food and well priced . Buffet had usual things for breckie and good service. Walked to old section and all run down but we are in a pandemic so totally understandable and when the visitors are back I'm sure they will be fixing this up , so please be patient. The rest of resort is amazing . Been to alot of resorts and this is amazing , loved it and we'll priced compared to other islands.
Staff were great and can't fault it.
Please try for yourself and don't worry about some picky reviews . Our experience was the best for the times we are living now this island is worth every bit. We'll done Daydream look forward to be being back

After reading some of the less than favourable reviews about DDI, I have to say I really don't know what some people's problem is! This is a well-above-average resort with loads to offer, and not nearly as over-priced as some people make it out to be.
Sure, guests are limited to the resort's facilities, but I really didn't find any price gouging on meals, drinks, and entertainment options, well not unless you're comparing it to a similar resort in Asia! Prices were mostly on par with a quality hotel in any capital city.
Our (lead-in) room was spacious, modern, and apart from a small issue with the TV (which was resolved), my only complaint would be the bed/mattress wasn't to our liking.
Daily buffet breaky had all the usual suspects, offering enough variety to suit most people's tastes. But it was the Asian fusion inspired Infinity restaurant that really impressed us. Ate there 3 times and could not fault a single dish. Everything was so tasty and well presented.
The Living Reef is clearly a unique feature, and it is great gazing at the sealife either from above or below the water. And the option to interact with the sealife is pretty novel. There's also a daily guide of scheduled activities, including things like bingo and trivia which were actually good fun.
The resort's grounds and pool areas are also quite impressive. While the resort wasn't overly busy during our stay, I'd imagine even when it was crowded there is ample seating, sun lounges, and cabanas scattered all over the island. However venturing to the old section of the island, I couldn't help feeling this area has been a little forgotten, and in need of some love and attention. As previously commented on by other reviewers, while the pools look very inviting, they're just too chilly to enjoy which is such a shame. Maybe the water heats up in the Summer months, but for those of us escaping the cooler months on this Island, be prepared for a very refreshing dip!
Finally, there has also been feedback that some of the staff aren't up to scratch. I could not find a fault in a single interaction with any of the staff. They were friendly, professional, and highly efficient.
I realise everyone has a different experience at the same resort/hotel, but this was my takeaway from the few days we spent. Would return in a heartbeat....

I have had the pleasure of visiting Daydream Island previously. Actually the 'old Daydream, pre last cyclone. The new Resort is wonderful.
Our King Deluxe water view room was very well appointed spotlessly clean with a great view out to the Whitsunday Islands. Large bathroom with a great shower. Very comfortable bed with extra pillows. Great selection of in-house movies.

Breakfast each morning was in Graze Restaurant. Good selection of breakfast favourites. My only complaint was the rather rude woman on the Omelette Station...she needs to first learn to smile and possibly say hello or good morning. Apart from that the staff at Breakfast are warm and welcoming.

Great Tour Desk with knowledgeable staff who can help out with any day tours or experiences you are interested in.

2 restaurants for dinner. Inkstone for steak pasta and pizza and Infinity for a more intimate experience. Both well priced with a good menu selection.

Great pools with swim up bar and plenty of sun lounges.

A great experience, wonderful 6 night stay.

Room tip: Winter time is the best time to visit

An incredible five night stay with our two young boys aged 4 and 6. Every staff member was friendly and helpful, food was wonderful and room clean and well appointed. The staff went above and beyond - one day it was too windy to do a lot of water sports so the Atrium turned into a kids play zone with table tennis, cornhole, giant jenga, colouring in etc. The underwater observatory kept the kids entertained for over an hour every day. Gorgeous pool areas.

My wife and I recently spent 3 nights there as part of our honeymoon and loved every part of it. Rooms were modern and clean. The entire resort is very clean and well maintained. Food and drinks are reasonably priced, especially considering the cost and effort that would be involved in getting supplies to an island. We were hesitant about staying here because of some of the reviews but quickly realised that the problem is obviously with those customers, not the resort. Clearly people are leaving bad reviews without first considering the limitations and difficulty of operating a resort on a small island. But we were very pleased with our stay. All of the staff seemed to be enthusiastic about working there and were all very friendly. Especially Monica and Ryan behind the bar who made us plenty of nice cocktails and were great to chat with. Daydream is lucky to have them on their team. Infinity restaurant was nice and a good place to sit for some afternoon drinks. We will definitely be back.
