We didn't really know what we were going to ... And arrived on Hamilton Island through a thick cloud, the first plane to land in 48 hours and only plane to land in 84 hours... We hadn't booked accommodation so were a touch alarmed when at the airport it became clear we were the only four people without anywhere to stay. However the staff at the airport (and this is why I make the Love Boat reference) all dressed in White polo shirts and tailored shorts (as were all staff on what I now know is a single resort island) were incredibly helpful and sent us to the Reef View where the equally well dressed staff were equally friendly and helpful and found us two rooms. Phew. Incredible views, large spacious rooms with balconies. Very clean and dated ... In a good way. Golf buggies everywhere, hotel facilities superb, we made the most of beach based sailing, kayaking, boarding facilities, and a great 4 days, mostly in a cloud. I'm sure most guests will have done their homework and will know what to expect ... Which is a well run, well appointed, late 1970s looking resort, great for a not engaging brain few days, and we enjoyed 4 days ... But we're ready to rejoin the world again ....More
