The Astor Private Hotel is central to Hobart city and all public transport needs. The rooms are very old fashion and makes you feels right at home. The owner of the hotel is very welcoming, friendly and makes the stay enjoyable. I will be staying here again and would recommend this hotel to all my friends and family.

Room tip: All the rooms are the same. Any room is as good as the next at the Astor Private Hotel.

Could not recommend this accom any higher. It's central to Hobart city and attractions like the Salamanca markets, the manager/owner Tildy is absolutely lovely and has been running the hotel for 30 years, it's affordable and the hotel itself has so much character and personality from the carpet to the windows, bathrooms and even the light switches, just charming. The breakfast room and the communal front reading/ lounge room is lovely

The Astor Private Hotel was built in 1912, it's been lovingly restored to it's former glory by it's owner, Tildy, who welcomed us with grace and humour. Our lovely room, on the 2nd floor, overlooked Macquarie St and boasted a queen bed, single bed, bench for suitcases and a place to sit and eat. The bonus was a plush couch where we could stretch out and read our books. Finally we had a generous size ensuite. The room was immaculate and was thoroughly cleaned every day.

Breakfast of cereal, stewed fruit, juice, toast, spreads, tea and coffee was included in the tariff. The hotel has a range of room types and prices, not all rooms come with ensuites. I highly recommend this delightful establishment, that gives excellent value for money in the heart of Hobart.

Lovely, quite quirky little hotel right in the middle of Hobart. Excellent service - because I was staying on my own the owner upgraded me to a better room with a beautiful big bed and a shower in the room. The whole place was really warm and cosy, and nice and clean. I missed the included breakfast after having too big a night out, but it smelled good!!
