Great everything. Atmosphere, food, service, wine. This place has it all, very neatly packaged in an intimate, cosy and understated space in a neighborhood overwhelmed with dining choices.

Thank Therese C

Had a really enjoyable casual breakfast at this small restaurant . coffee was great (always important!) and a good choice of breakfast dishes to select from. Whole place had a nice feel to it - lots of locals dropping in.

It used to be difficult to find breakfast in the CBD early on a Sunday, but now we are spoiled for choice. The Mess Hall was wonderful. Calm, great light and ambience, friendly staff, a selection of interesting dishes ranging from decadent to healthy, and, most importantly, brilliant coffee.

Having taken residence in a local hotel, I wasn't too inspired by their breakfast offerings, so I took to looking around to see what was available elsewhere. Fortunately I found the "Mess Hall" in Bourke St. It had tables both inside and outside. Breakfast menu's varied from the healthy options to the bountiful option, allowing you a little bit of what you fancy on the day. Staff were friendly and cappucino's were excellent although a little on the small side. Food was freshly made and tasted so. Restaurant inside was bright and airy and felt relaxed with a good atmosphere.
Its an ideal place to start the day, and I found myself struggling to go elsewhere as it had set the bar so high. Would recommend

Lovely location, great concept but really don't understand when they are able to serve coffee with skinny milk, soy milk and 5 other milk variants, they "cannot" make an egg white omelette. Isn't it just a matter of cracking and egg, taking out the yolk and cooking as you would any other egg dish. Surprised and disappointed at the lack of flexibility of a health related ask.
