I lived in Melbourne for fifty years and walked past this hotel without noticing it was there. I finally stayed here for a week and it it fantastic. It is worthy of five stars. The concierge were fantastic. Every request and challenge I asked for they did so with a smile and gusto. Ben in particular was great. The room was clean and spacious. The bathroom and shower perfect. The breakfast was to die for and they have decent coffee. If you have a car the valet parking is great value and so easy. I very rarely can write a review without a criticism but a honestly can't fault this hotel.
I stayed here over the weekend from 5th July to 9th July for a total of four nights.
We went to the hotel early to deposit our luggage but managed to check in early before 12pm due to availability of the rooms. I credit Ms Olivera at the reception for her hard work in assisting us with a room on the top floor overlooking Collins Street. Also, much thanks to housekeeping for the hasty deliveries of bathrobes on request.
The room was decked out in the standard Novotel colours, with lavish finishings. The chaise lounge by the side was really comfortable, with multiple cushions. The bathroom was stylish and impeccably clean, with a nice LED frame mirror that provided adequate lighting. Plenty of storage in the room as well. The bed, however, was a little disappointing without fitted sheets.
A little disappointed that the pool was closed due to a leak. The gym set up was functional but minimal, cannot complain about that though.
In addition, the hotel is situated in the middle of Colins Street and that is a winner in every sense. Easy access to all the key tram stops around Melbourne CBD.
Overall really good experience with the the room as expected of a 4-star hotel in the Accor group.
Despite the renovation and star ratings this hotel needs a kick in the pants.
Sloppy housekeeping eg litter bins left uncleared, sweet wrappers from previous guests left by the bed of 2 days, bathrooom not resupplied and general inattention. At breakfast hot food on cold plates congealing rapidly.
Given the location on Collins which is near perfect for Melbourne this Novotel should do much much better although I will say the staff do save it on several fronts but they are saving a sub-standard product.
Stayed here recently for one night. It was a pleasant surprise to discover rooms had been refurbished. The rooms look terrific, very modern indeed.
Breakfast has always been great at the restaurant, but felt that dinner meal did not meet our expectations and very expensive. Next time would eat out for dinner.
he pool is under maintenance at the moment but they are letting you use facilities at another hotel.
would definitely stay again.
