We arrived Saturday 23 Oct and it was so busy! We could not hear information from reception staff for the extreme level of noise. Using the lift was hard too and packed to the gills with guests. So it took a while to get to our room. But the room was just beautiful! Super clean. Awesome views over the river. The shower was huge. And just what you expect from the Hilton group, the amazing comfort beds. Thankfully the noise from the Lucky Shag not a bother at all as warned by another reviewer. The Reel Kitchen staff very nice, accommodating and food delicious. Thank you chefs. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. Unfortunately a big downer were the several unsupervised young children/girls running amok along the corridors and ringing the door bells and running off and until quite late. We could disable the door bell but the banging on doors we could do little about. 18 knots bar was super packed with private booked events and guests but had managed to get a drink eventually. The bar had extensive list of drinks. So we would like to go back again, but as The Silly Season approaches, any night other than Friday or Saturday would suit us better for a more relaxing break for our next visit. Looking forward to the executive lounge opening too - apparently when covid restrictions end.
We believe the new hotel deserves four stars for service at least. But the overcrowding and poor surveillance was sadly a sticking point.

Dear Michael,

Thank you for taking the time to post your review.

I am disappointed to hear your stay with us was disturbed by several younger guests of an inhouse event. On a more positive note, I am happy to hear you were impressed by the guest room, your meal in Reel Kitchen and our team's service.

Thank you again for your feedback, we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

The first night was ok in a panoramic view room booked by my daughter as a birthday gift
At our arrival we decided to stay 2 nights instead of one and enquire accordingly,
The room that was allocated to us was booked and the front desk was kind enough to find us another room and ensured us that we can move straight in after breakfast .... AND this happened.
The only problem was they down graded our room and and it was more a single room than for a couples room. The room was small and a disappointment.
When we handed the room keys in for the first room that we were in before I mentioned to the Manger that was manning the front desk that they down graded us instead of the same class of room. She told me in her way that they are fully booked and that there is nothing she could do for us. I replied "if that was made clear to me the night before that I would have made my booking at the Crown. The Manager then replied "Well Sir then please book at the Crown" Needless to say we booked in at the Crown and they even take the bags out of our car not like at the Hilton that we had to carry our own bags from the street to our room.
For a hotel like the Hilton with their reputation of wanting to be the best they need to start with the basics.

Room tip: 601 panoramic view ...1403 tiny only one chair to sit down

We recently stayed here for 1 night and decided last minute to upgrade to a river view room and wow it was definitely worth it. The whole check-in process was so easy and convenient as I checked in via the Hilton Honours app so I got a notification on my phone to tell me the room was ready and we were able to go straight there on arrival, using my phone to unlock the lifts and the room. The room was on the 10th floor with river views and it was a gorgeous room and very comfortable bed, but the views were definitely the highlight.
We stopped by check-in desk later to ask a question and the staff member was super friendly and very helpful and we also got our welcome cookie (which was delicious :) ).
The hotel itself is in a fantastic location, close to the train station and within walking distance to the CBD. The roof top bar was lovely - again with amazing views, and the pool and gym area looked really nice although never actually used them.
We had breakfast the following morning and it was very good. Plenty of choice of both hot and cold foods, and again we had an awesome view overlooking the river.
Overall we had an excellent stay and will definitely be back. The hotel is amazing, the room was very comfortable and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.
