If you appreciate eating delicately prepared Italian inspired food in a restuarant that feels both modern and antique this is the place for you. I went during lunch time and there were plenty of seats, although it started to fill up later on. I wanted to try a few dishes, so instead of choosing one of the larger meals I ordered Stracciatella to start and the Handkerchief pasta as my main. I also ordered a glass of wine. The stracciatella was rich but a tad oily for me, although it says olive oil bread on the menu, so it might just be me. The pasta was also good, quite beautifully prepared and bursting with fresh basil goodness. The only thing I didn't love about this place was the service. Four people approached me throughout my lunch, which was a bit distracting and confusing. Out of the four, one was my main server, who didn't even ask how I enjoyed my food or if I needed anything else. The other was the manager who also showed me to my seat, asked how I enjoyed my meal, and if I would like to see a dessert menu. He was also very prompt in bringing the cheque so I could pay right away rather than trying to flag down my server, who didn't seem to care about me even though I spent $40. Maybe it was because I was wearing jeans and a flannel and I'm 23? I dined at other high end restaurants in NZ and the servers (even when there were a few different ones) were always friendly and helpful. Anyway, the manager's attentiveness at the end made my visit worthwhile. I wouldn't visit again unless I came with someone as you can't really have a friendly chat or engage with the staff at all.
