The check in procedure was fine, staff pleasant and efficient and no help was offered with bags. The room was adequate though the shower shelf was broken and the bathroom lighting very poor. There is no coffee shop and 'breakfast' is 'free' i.e. The sandwich, muffin, and mango drink are put in the fridge the evening before. When checking out the staff were unhelpful and off hand.

Booked here as a place to rest our heads on New Years. Perfect for what we wanted. Reasonable price/room size fine/helpful staff. Not the flashest place and I wouldn't want to stay here for comfort or if holidaying. A little run down but you get what you pay for. Would go back if I needed this type of place to stay at again. Good proximity to Sky Tower / Viaduct easy parking and easy to find.

We had 4 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was ok. The hotel is conveniently located but the area is by no means attractive. A five block, downhill walk will get you to the viaduct/harbour area with many eateries and you are not far from town. The 4 lane street out the front leads easily to the motorway which is handy to travel either north or south. The continental breakfast here is unusual in that it is delivered the night before and consists of sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt, muffins etc all of which we found unsuitable. The Aucklnd city mission is a block away and they certainly appreciated our daily delivery of unwanted and unopened food. The rooms themselves were tired but adequate. The kitchen facilities were ok and washer/drier was available in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room was serviced each day. The highway out the front could be noisy but keeping the sliding door closed kept this to a minimum. Parking is limited and tight and not hassel free. Parking is not guaranteed or free so read any booking confirmation details carefully. I share other recent comments about finding the hotel. Our booking confirmation was with Auckland City Oaks and it is now known as VR Auckland City. We halso had trouble finding it and were informed that there had been a recent name change. It would have been nice to have been advised this prior to arrival.....in this day and age that is very easy to do.

Room tip: Name has changed and prebook your car parking.

Auckland city oaks is the one of the best hotel in all the Newzealand. It is loacted in the very good and attractive location so the benefit is we can buy all the stuff we need near the hotel. Moreover the staff is very co-operative and very helpful. Service are really good.
