Last minute dinner plans & no booking needed as only a small group of us, would recommend booking in advance for larger groups as this place is always busy, we ordered the prawn fried rice, bbq pork fried rice, bbq pork on rice, plum sauce ribs, lemon chicken & loads of their delicious deep fried spring rolls, we were fed, watered & out of there in an hour thanks to the quick service, staff could learn to smile but other than that this place is very good value for money & when all dishes are shared between the table there is more than enough & some leftovers for everyone, not much parking here or on the road so car pooling would be a good idea.

Sam Woos is a legend. We visit here once a month with a group of friends and workmates frequently knowing that we can have a beautiful Vietnamese meal for under fifty bucks for a couple.
My wife introduced me to this South Auckland converted car sales establishment sixteen years ago when we first met. The owner Tom, and his family and that includes his staff are welcoming and efficient. The menu caters for most tastes ranging from traditional duck to the rice and noodle dishes you would expect from a genuine Vietnamese experience. Tom the owner comes over and chats, takes orders and cleans up as he runs an experienced eye on diners.
Outstanding dishes include the spring rolls both fresh and deep fried, the duck, squid and meat or whole fish dishes that are packed with beautifully cooked vegetables.
Try Toms deep fried ice cream for desert or my favourite plain old fruit salad and ice cream.
Our group often dine there and it is a real party trick to show any new comers that Tom is able to go around the table of six and predict our desert dishes.
Dishes are priced between ten and sixteen dollars each the restaurant caters for BYOW. No corkage folks this is not a rip off joint.
The atmosphere is not one of fine dining but if you want to see a genuine cross section of multicultural Auckland this is it. This is truly a family restaurant with good honest food

Since 2011 I have seen Sam Woo's posted online on my various social media threads, not mention all the people throughout Auckland and other places in NZ that have been there. Interesting place located in the heart of Auckland. With all the South Pacific & Polynesian influences and delicious options to try, Sam Woo stands out as a MUST EAT when in Otahuhu.

Its the kinda place that locals seem to know and flock to, and no matter how far up the corporate ladder you go, (provided youve eaten here) you will take every opportunity to visit there when in the region.

A fusion of Vietnamese food, naughty favourites and just really good organic cooking. The atmosphere is full of people from all walks of life, and the staff are really warm and helpful. So many options to choose from, you wont have a problem finding something for your tummy.

Faves - Roast duck, spring rolls, Deep fried calamari. Love it. You go there to eat and enjoy - not for the environment, romance, fine dining, service, entertainment, nor the other guests. Often packed with diners.
