We had booked by phone in advance from Australia as part of a driving trip in the North Island. The booking process was easy and helpful. We were to stay only for one night but while we were there, weather conditions and road closures turned that into 3 nights. Reception was very helpful and friendly with the extension and in keeping us up to date with road conditions via information from logging truck drivers who stayed at the motel as well. We had a superior king studio which was spacious, clean and in good condition with all the expected facilities. The room was serviced daily.
The motel is in a good location within easy walking distance to the business district and a pleasant walkway along Waikanie Beach, around the port area and along the river. As we were stuck there for a couple of days we made good use of that and the lookout above the port as well as some local sights when weather permitted.
The motel has a restaurant on site and it is good value and well run.
The motel is on a road leading to the port where ships are loaded with logs for export. There is some noise from the trucks servicing the wharf but it is OK. If it bothers you at night, just close the windows facing the road. We had no major issues with sleeping.
Only adverse comment would be that managers need to check showers in their rooms. The shower head and tap both leaked and it was difficult to adjust temperature and pressure. We find this in a lot of places we stay. However, we would definitely stay here again.

We had a comfortable two bedroom unit with small lounge. Very clean unit ,and friendly staff.
Close to town, across road from beach. Quiet unit, was quite surprised as there is a busy road running by units . Car parking was good.
We had a queen sized bed in one bedroom and three singles in the other.

Room Tip: Very easy to find

The room was clean and modern and the location was perfect, just a minute stroll to some of Gisborne's most beautiful beaches. Thank you to our warm and welcoming host who was more then accomodating. Will be back for sure! Thanks again.

We were not expecting anything in particular, only deciding to stop here at short notice as it was raining heavily.
The room was pretty basic, but it was certainly clean and comfortable - however what really made this a pleasant stay was the warm and welcoming staff both in reception and in the dining room.
I also loved the fact that a statue of my hero James Cook was so close by on the waterfront!
Would warmly recommend this

Was directed here by Ann from the Gisborne I site. Geoff was very helpful and our room was very well equipped. The beach is nearby as are the various walks in this city. Lots of shops although most were closed at 3pm on a Saturday! Well recommended.
