We spent a wonderful time with Normans Cooks Lookout Motel. Norm and his
wife are very friendly and helpful. The views from the big rooms are splendid. It is a
very quiet area very close to the Haruru Falls. Ideal for guided tours or to go to the historical Maori Treaty grounds or to play golf near Paihia. Internet Access and parking are free of charge.
We would like to spend again very beautiful days with Norm and his wife.

Room tip: All are large with great views.

We stayed in Paihia at cooks lookout for 2 nights in december and although the weather was awful the welcome from Shelagh and Norm was warm and they couldnt do enough for us. The view from the rooms is amazing. Town is too far to walk to but is about a 7min drive away. Haruru falls is just around the corner. Wonderful hosts and simply spectacular views from the rooms.

Everything has already been said here on Trip Advisor. To my own surprise I found everything about this property to be absolutely true. The view? To die for. The location? Remote and therefore most peaceful (with Pahia centre within easy reach by car). The accommodation? Very well maintained, absolutely clean, thoughtfully equipped. The hosts? A stand-alone reason to come back here.
I suspected some positive reviews here on Trip Advisor to be over the top. They are not. Norman and Shelag helped us making the most of our stay. They made us feeling welcome and comfortable. Thank you very much both of you!
The only down side of our stay was not the bad weather (rainfalls and some storm) but that we did not stay longer.
The best would be to find out yourselves!

If you need to get out of the rat race, saunter up to cooks lookout motel for a well deserved escape. Tranquil, beautiful with owners who cater for the individual needs of their guests its the whole package for those on a budget. Lets not get confused that the motel is budget and if you want to try a shower dome, they have them.

This motel was recommended by friends who had visited a few years earlier. It is located close to the main highway and the individual rooms are located on terraces which means that there is a great view over the Bay of Islands from the rooms.Norm and Shelagh are great hosts and really look after their guests. Nothing was too much trouble, even down to arranging transport to take us to a jetty for a boat trip around the Bay of Islands and returning us later in the afternoon. We stayed for a couple of nights, but would quite happily have stayed longer as it is a great location with clean and comfortable accomodation. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful location with great views then this is the place.Thank you for making our stay a very memorable experience.
