Owner description: Waitangi Treaty Grounds, New Zealand's most important historic site, is where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed between the British Crown and the indigenous Maori in February 1840. Set on a stunning site overlooking the Bay of Islands, Waitangi is an absolute must-see for all visitors to the North, international and New Zealanders alike. Attractions include the historic Treaty House, a giant flagstaff, a unique fully carved Maori meeting house and the the world's largest single-hulled canoe (waka). Guided tours and cultural performances run at regular intervals throughout the day. Open daily except Christmas.

A very well presented historical site. Lots to see outdoors and an excellent small museum. It would be easy to spend a whole day here. Good parking and a handy little cafe. Take the guided tours to make the most of your visit.

Spent about 3 hours here. Absolutely fantastic place to learn about the history of the Waitangi treaty. The museum is also a great place to gain some insight into the history of the area. Highly recommend visiting.

Very well presented and organised historic site. Well worth the $50 entry which includes a 60min guided tour and 30min traditional performance. Big up to tour guide John for walking backwards the whole tour to not have his back to the group! Audio headsets provided in case you can’t hear the guide. Museum is well presented too. Lovely place for a walk around on a summer afternoon. Mostly outside so take wet weather gear in the off season. Would recommend to visitors and locals alike.

Site to their list. Great way to understand some of the history
In this part of New Zealand. Easy to get to, parking not an issue

See where it all began. The museum is very impressive and informative describing the history and the journey of both people until this point in time. Impartial respectful inclusive and clear.
