Paihia resort and spa was the ideal place for us to see in the New Year mainly due to the truly outstanding New Year's Eve menu that was on offer at le Provinir Reataurant.

The house chef provided us with a superb 7 course dinner with wine pairing which rated as one of the best dinners we had in New Zealand.

We stayed in room 401 which was well situated for outstanding views over the bay and an excellent covered patio for early morning coffee and evening sunset drinks.

The heated swimming pool is a great asset to the resort and has great views onto the sea.

Whilst waiting for my partner to return from a dive trip I booked a body treatment. It was not busy so I had the attention of the therapist and the only one there for an hour. The spa is well equipped and presented. Small but very relaxing. I would recommend it for a treat yourself whilst in Paihia.

We stayed 3 days over christmas period. To start with the Provenir Restaurant is high quality. Lovely pool, modern spacious clean room on 4th floor with views over the ocean. Sound of waves at night very relaxing. No nonsense internet that works without issue (my main bugbear in hotels) Staff were friendly and helpful and it seems there is efficient team here. Our breakfast was included and was sensational - again the Provenir restaurant just knows what guests want in a 5 star hotel. Highly recommended all round.

Room Tip: 4th Floor best views

We stayed 2 nights on the 4th floor and what amazing ocean views. Our room was perfect, CLEAN and very comfortable, I loved listening to the ocean waves , very calming. The staff were fantastic, very helpful and friendly. I had an aroma scent massage that was pure luxury, thank you Crystal who was amazing. We had breakfast and dinner at their Restaurant Provenir . The food was divine, 5 star dining, excellent food. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend, absolutely Fabulous place to stay. Would definitely recommend to friends and family and wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Thank you Paihia Beach Resort and Spa for a wonderful 5 star experience. Kia Ora!

What a delightful place, this was our first port-of-call on our New Zealand trip but my wife's first words when entering the room were "Can we stay here?".

Everything about this place said "calm". All the staff were very friendly and went about their work in a relaxed and unfussy way.

Our delight was not just confined to the room though. The food was exquisite and although the menu remained unchanged throughout our 3 days there we would have very happily had eaten there again.

Well done to everybody at this lovely hotel. You were the perfect introduction to your country and "set the bar" for others to aspire to. Thank you!

Room Tip: The higher the better to get the real impact of the bay.
