Treetops Lodge & Estate

The Treetops Lodge is an amazing place to stay when in Rotorua. We stayed at the Family wing of the Lodge. The Estate is 2500 acres with beautiful landscape for hikes, walks, fishing, horse riding etc..etc.. You name it and they've got it.

The food is great, they grow most of their own produce. The staff are very friendly and a special thanks to John (the GM) for taking good care of us. It was the highlight of our NZ trip...

Treetops is absolutely stunning. From the scenery to the service, we were continually wowed. I loved what chef did with ice cream, and James wine pairing was a highlight of our entire NZ trip.

The lodge is nestled in a dense forest surrounded by mountains. The views are spectacular and other civilization isn't to be found for miles. There are around 30 KM of hiking trails through the forest and up the various mountainsides forming a natural surrounding barrier. We both hiked and rode horses through the grounds, allowing us to cover a wide area. As mentioned by the other reviewers, the staff could not be friendlier or more helpful. Meals were truly gourmet. Our rooms (we were there with two older children) were very large, and exceptionally well appointed. We also had a large living room with stone fireplace and full kitchen adjoining our rooms. Room Tip: There are no bad rooms. The lodge itself only has a handful of rooms in the main section, and then...

I loved treetops. We had really bad weather, it rained the whole time but we still found fun things to do every day. The grounds are beautiful and everyone is very nice. There is a lot to do there but everything is pretty pricey. The food is incredible and you should eat dinner there one night but again keep in mind how expensive everything is. I think it is worth it and the best place to stay in Rotorua by far.
