Our stay at Ambassador Thermal Motel was a very short stay, just a day. It is a three story building and built in typical Motel style. The Motel is just a short walk from "Eat Street" in Rotorua and city centre. But you need to get used to the smell thats typical for Rotorua.

The lady at the reception was nice and helpful.

The Motel is equipped with a hot tub and other pools. We didn't use those, but they looked as they were in pretty good condition.

Our room was very spacious it had a pretty good, small kitchen. The room though wasn't really cleaned that good, as there was still a bit of rubbish behind the heater.
The doors could have needed a bit of renovation as they were missing a bit of paint, same for the bathroom ceiling. We had a good view and all, but you could definitely see that the hotel is a bit older.

As a whole it was an "okay" stay, probably for 2-3 nights tops.

Room tip: Upper Floor rooms with lake view

This hotel was clean and the hostess very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We only had a short visit and she was able to advise the best things to see in the area. A short walk to all restaurants and shops. The hotel also has its own natural hot spring which we dipped our feet into, quite hot! The room was huge and clean with all amenities and parking was on the street but was easy to get a spot. Good value for money.

We had booked a room for 2 nights for 3 people. At first we thought we booked it too late as we ended up getting a huge room with 3 singles and 1 queen! Haha, there was no complaints though as we had huge floor space and we could move around easily. We peered into other rooms and they too had big spaces despite not having as many beds. We arrived and an old man (who said he wasn't the usual head person) showed us around the motel. It has a pool and a mineral thermal pool as well. It was lovely! He was so polite and even offered to help us with our bags, I wish I could remember his name! The location was very close to the i-site and we were able to walk around and see the Governer Gardens, Lake Rotorua and a couple of hot springs. One complaint would be the smell of stagnant water that I could smell outside the room. We just shut the window facing it and it was all good.

Room tip: shut the windows to avoid the smell and you'll be good!

We booked this motel after another one we tried failed to get back to us and we are so glad that we did. It was is a great location and the hosts were very friendly. We appreciated being put in the room beside the pool. Our grandson thought he was in heaven. It was an older motel but very clean. There was no air- con but the 2 fans supplied were appreciated. There are radiator heaters and with the fantastic thermal pool it will be awesome in winter. We will definitely be going back.

Very affordable to stay at and definitely didn't regret booking here. Staff were always friendly, rooms were always cleaned, big rooms and more than enough space for 6 people in the 2 bedroom apartment. Would stay here again no questions. Close to main street, restaurants, the lake and heaps more!
