Lovely food and I think out of the group of 10 only 1 wasn't happy. Valid comments about smokiness of restaurant and speed of clearing dishes. Other than that a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon. Thanks a lot

Amazing if you like meat. We got the meat platter for two and it was delicious, especially the beef skewers - yum! Also ordered pita bread and an eggplant dish which was also great. The staff were friendly and I loved the cozy atmosphere of the restaurant and the open kitchen. It's BYO so we brought a bottle of red wine to share - a great night out.

We ordered meat platter and boteco traditional platter and they are really good. We love the hummus and eggplant dip served with warm pita bread. Our favourite was the fried chicken, crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside. We don't normally like lamb but the lamb kebab was seasoned well and we finished them off with gusto. Food-wise, we enjoyed it!

However, the service was a big let down. Im not sure which of the two wait staff was confused and inexperienced (both of them perhaps?). First, with the drinks two orders were wrong. Second, we ordered an extra rice, it never came. Third, we ordered coffee, chai latte and desserts and when they arrived there's no space to put them because they didn't clear the table first. We had to do it ourselves and give them the empty plates. Fourth, gave us desserts with no cutlery, same with coffee and chai latte, no teaspoons. And lastly, forgot to serve chocolate cake and another chai latte that we ordered. But they were able to punch it in our bill.

The chef was really nice and accommodating and was even apologetic when he learned that a mistake was made. But still part of dining experience is the service and this one is a huge disappointment. More training is needed.

Boteco recently changed ownership and staff, they didn't change the menu though, meaning many dishes are not the way the used to / are supposed to be. Southamerican fries for example, are normal fries with loads of cream on top. They used to be mandioca frita, a completely different dish made from mandioca potato.

Anyway we had the Grabone meat platter for two, and we were a bit disappointed, it literally is only meat. It was okay, but certainly not worth the 70 bucks that they claim.

Anyway, the staff is friendly (although quite inexperienced and not very knowledgeable about the food they serve), the food was okay, all in all not bad either, but definitely not what it used to be.

Bout the type of cuisine, I was told they will develop into middle eastern style cuisine. Now it claims to be mediterranean and south american. Both is not entirely true in my view, it is a mix of dishes that people might think are typical, but you won't find the really typical dishes for these cuisines (moussaka, paella, for example or the already mentioned mandioca frita).

Good value tasty tucker.

Not sure what happened but they no longer have a license so it's BYO only. No drama though at $1 per beer or $7 per bottle of wine. Non-alcoholic drinks are available though.

The sharing platters always work best at these restaurants and Boteco is no exception. We got the vege platter and meat platter between three of us and it was heaps!

A bit smokey inside because of the Sth American style of food. The chef/owner came and spoke to us which was a nice touch.
