After long and careful research of the venues around Queenstown for our wedding we decided to go with The Canyons Lodge. Both Brent and Sarah continuously went out of their way to cater for our needs. Even though they have many customers, it really felt like all their attention was with us.
We had our wedding, reception and accommodation all at the Canyons Lodge and I couldn't fault any of it.
Maybe I am bias because it was my own wedding, but we have also had many of our guests comment on the high standards of the wedding and location.

I most definitely recommend this venue to everyone; be it a romantic getaway weekend or their wedding (one of the most important days of their lives).

Thanks again Brent and Sarah :)

It says below we stayed in December 2015, but our stay was actually December 2013 (couldn't select a date before 2015 on the review page)

Room Tip: Upstairs master suite was the best room I've ever stayed in. Giant en-suite bathroom with an ama...

I stayed with a group of two other couples in winter for a week and it was amazing. The house is so big each couple had their own space to retreat. The view of the river and the shot over jets adds to the excitement. It is not that far out of town being about 5 minutes drive. It was great having the fireplace and large lounge to relax at the end of the day. We cooked many meals and felt right at home. The host Sarah was so helpful in arranging the booking. Highly recommended as a lodge stay with a family or friends group! thanks canyons lodge.

Room Tip: Upstairs room spectacular!

Spent 10 days here with 2 other couples and 3 kids, we had the full run of the entire house and loved it. The views are simply to die for. Very secluded and quiet with the buzz of the jet boats and birds the only break in the silence. Kitchen was fully equipped for Masterchef holiday competitions, the lounge perfect for relaxing next to a crackling fire and the outdoor spa an absolute treat no matter what time of day. Will be back!

The setting was peaceful and the view of the river and mountains was spectacular. The hostess was polite and friendly. Unfortunately, we didn't feel that the accomodations and amenities were comensurate with the price. If you believe, as we do, that the details make the difference, The Canyons Lodge missed the mark. Our room was comfortable, but our door stuck making it very hard to close, the TV was impossible to figure out, the tiny circular shower curtain made showering cramped and difficult, and there was little or no space to set anything down in the bathroom. Our room was never tidied and towels were not freshened even once during our 4 night stay. We also found that the location made getting to town inconvenient. It was either a one-hour walk (a nice walk if you're up for it) or a $22 taxi ride each way. To end on a positive note, the breakfasts and afternoon nibbles were lovely.

I recently attended a wedding at this venue. The venue, and view of the surrounding area was great - but didn't cater to people in wheelchairs. Access to the lower slopes where the wedding was held was very difficult and required two strong men to take, and control, the wheelchair down the slope. Getting back up the slope was diabolical with three men pushing the wheelchair up backwards, and one pulling . How embarrassing for the person sitting in it. To get up onto the wooden deck was even worse. It took four men to physically lift the wheelchair up to the deck as there was no ramp and the one step was too high. If anyone has had experience of family members confined to wheelchairs, you would know how independent they like to feel and not be made to feel a "second rate" citizen by being physically manhandled in their chairs. To make matters worse, there was no way to access the toilet. As I said, a great venue for a wedding but if you wish to be known as a function centre, regardless of what the law says with regards accessibility, you should at least make some attempt to make these people feel welcome - a wooden ramp would have made all the difference and at least one toilet which is accessible to wheelchairs.
