Reviewed 26 November 2011

This is a moderately sized one-bedroom apartment with full kitchen (equipped), living room with flat screen TV, and washing machine (no dryer, but there is a clothes line out back and pegs/clothes pins are supplied). The toilet is near the washing machine and back door; the shower and a half-sink are off the bedroom, with a utility closet in between. This is not great, but all the pieces exist. The toilet room light was burned out, but otherwise everything seemed to function properly. The bed was a little bouncy, but we slept well. The tile floor (throughout) had some grit in some places, but otherwise things were very clean. We would stay here again, or in similar places.

Thank you from Heather - my aim is to please our customers and if there is anything they require they only have to ring me and I will help out, if possible! We are 'home away from home' with full cooking facilities, saves on take away, as other reviews have said not far from highway which will take you to the shopping complex, along with sights that are a must do while in 'the hill'. We have a outdoor area, with bbq and a great view of the pinnacles along with soaking up the sunsets. If a home unit is not for you we now offer a cottage as well, (contact Heather for bookings/prices)

Reviewed 1 July 2009

I travelled to Broken Hill in May 2009 to attend a State level sporting event for one of my sons. With so many other families in town most motels / hotels were booked out. A check of Google eventually uncovered Heather's Home Units, only a hundred or so metres off the highway in a residential area of town, about 3-4 blocks from the main shopping area. This suited us as we weren't looking forward to 4 days of motel food anyway - expense or options.

The Units are a block of 5 single story, fully self contained units, each unit comprising 1 double bedroom with ensuite shower, separate toilet off an internal laundry and a combined kitchen / lounge room with a small dining table, sofa and lounge chairs. I booked a Unit for myself and my son and interconnected to another Unit for my parents. We basically cooked and ate in the one Unit , with all utensils, cutlery, crockery etc. available. There were also various 'little' efforts provided - such as washing powder.

The rooms were clean, beds and lounges comfortable and equipment all working and convenient. The area is quiet. Heather set up a separate single bed in the lounge room for my son at no extra expense. There is off-street parking for cars, including a double carport (first in first served basis).

The Units cost $80 per night, less than all other accommodation options checked in town. They're probably over 30 years old judging by the cupboards in the kitchen etc., but they're clean, warm and comfortable.

If you're after room service, telephones and a swimming pool, this is not the place for you. But if you're after a quiet night, in a comfortable 'country style' home-away-from-home, where you can do all of your own cooking and relax, this may well suit you perfectly.
