Such a lovely friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is small and intermit, the food was superb and the wine choice was first class.
Thank you for a relaxing and welcoming evening.

Simply a great dining experience. The service was really welcoming, warm and genuine the whole meal. Brett was really helpful in suggesting meal options.

A lovely venue, being an old converted house. We didn’t feel too close to the other tables, and enjoyed the ambience.

The food was really yummy. We shared a scallop entree, and they were great.

I had the seafood fettuccini which was incredible. Lovely, fresh and tasty seafood in with the fettuccine.

I would definitely recommend this place, and I wish I could come back soon!

Do yourself a favour and book to ensure you can eat there. Well worth it!

Just arrived and read about the restaurant in Lonely planet - I wasn’t sure if the food would be suitable for my kids, but nothing too much trouble - kids loved the pasta with slow cooked beef bolognaise and the lamb and fish was great, thank you

Novaro's has been around for 40 years, and in the capable hands of chef Nicholas Hooper and maître d' Sarah Hooper for the last 16 of those. They have maintained its well-earned reputation as a fine outpost of contemporary Italian cuisine in Launceston, probably the best.

We started with bread, scallops and thin-sliced abalone ($42). All were exquisite. The experience was like that of eating in a little Venetian restaurant, not least because of the high proportion of fresh seafood on the menu. And snails ! We followed through with seafood fettucine, ribeye steak and a papadelle special. Once again our food was exquisite and generous. There was some doubt if we'd make it through the steak and the marinara, which were generous portions, but all good in the end ;). We wrapped up with (traditional) tiramisu and a delicious light grapefruit sorbet, coffee and digestifs.

Service was excellent - not fussy, but attentive, and all staff knew their way round the menu intimately. The only glitch was the momentary forgetting of a limoncello. At the end of the night staff, and Sarah in particular, were happy to chat, not just with us, but with other patrons, personalising the experience.

The venue is an interesting one - a converted Edwardian terraced house - but it works well for a small, intimate restaurant. You will find yourself never too far from other diners, but this is not a drawback. On the walls are a number of fine local contemporary artworks, and the ambience is very pleasant.

I'd recommend this restaurant. You will need to book - it's popularity with local regulars has been complimented by a recent review which declared it one of Australia's top 500 restaurants and fully put it on visitors' radar. It will be well worth making a booking though. We escaped for $385, including a $66 pinot, so about $130 per head, and would do it a again in a heartbeat !
