Five of us went to the Belmont for lunch today. Menu was very expensive so we expected outstanding food. No! Parma at $27 - too dear. The parma was a nice size but mine was dry - either overcooked or been sitting waiting too long. The topping was tasty but fell off - didn't connect to the parma. Vegies were broccoli and julienne carrots and were warm at best, steamed and tasteless. I expected more than two veggies and for them to have some flavour. At the least be served hot. Expected better. Parma was served on top of the chips which always ensures the chips are soggy. Why do restaurants do this? Makes no sense. Plenty of chips but again just warm.
One fellow diner had the fillet steak at $35. Nice size, well cooked and pepper sauce excellent.
The other had flake fillets. Well cooked, served hot and large salad. Said it was ok but not outstanding.
If you charge top pub prices you have to deliver top pub food. Today that did not happen.
