Owner description: Enjoy the atmosphere of an original shearing shed. The show consists of hand feeding our drysdale Ram ??? Ram-Man??? (who is very photogenic) watching a sheep being shorn, the wool being sorted and pressed. This is followed by a general discussion giving information about sheep shearing, sheep breeds and wool types. Hold a shearing hand piece, old blades shears and Ram horns. During spring you can touch, hold and feed a lamb. Time 30 minutes.

We liked the show, especially feeding the baby sheep. Very informative and gets you close to how local farms are. The owners are very friendly.

Cool show - worth the visit! Just pop in on your way to the seal colony and find out the daily show times. It's a really personal thing and you'll make friends with Jed the dog immediately. Very relaxed and enjoyable and not what every tourist in Kaikoura does. Takes about half an hour. We had a good time.

What a great show for those who have or have not seen sheep shearing. The chance to feed a lamb and meet the ram. These Drysdale sheep get shorn twice a year which is unusual as most breeds are only done annually. Thanks it was a great show and reasonably priced.

This is ideal for children - a quirky, only-in-New Zealand sort of attraction. You arrive and are made welcome by the farmer and his dogs. Kids get to bottle-feed a lamb and hand-feed a ram. There is some informative instruction about wool, New Zealand farming, and then a shearing demonstration and an opportunity to pose for hilarious pictures. The personal touch is appealing and you are left with a sense of how farming has changed over time in this country (and of how farmers are struggling). Really terrific.

We went to the late afternoon show, and there were only 4 of us. The owner was very friendly, and had no problems answering a range of questions about life and work. We fed a lamb, had some funny photos whilst feeding a ram, and lavished attention on the very appreciative working dogs. The owner was very well informed, and for a country that's background and agriculture has involved sheep for so long, this is definately worth the trip
