This is such a fun little show! The owner of this small sheep farm in New Zealand spreads out his sheep shearing so he can sheer two a day for the tourists all year long.
It is a very genuine experience as the owner has basically just opened up his farm yard to visitors, so it is a nice break from the usual, highly-polished tourist attractions. You get to bottle feed and hold a lamb, then learn a bit about sheep farming as you watch a sheep get sheared.
The only caution is that the animals in the show are livestock and not pets, so they have to be wrestled a bit and held down while they are sheared. This is obviously done in a way that is safe and does not harm the animal, but if you are expecting it to look like your pet dog at the groomers, you should be prepared for something a little rougher as this is a working farm.
The host is a very nice man and he does a really good job of telling people about his industry. The show is about 20 minutes long and cost us $12 each.
If you are in the area and are curious about all the sheep farms you drive by in New Zealand, this is a must see that is very worth it!
