Stayed the one night and wished we'd stayed longer. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with the double bed having views of the bay. Had a great welcome from Lyn the owner who provided helpful advice on where to eat and even booked us a window seat at the Pier Hotel. The apartment had everything we needed and was exceptionally clean. Wifi was fantastic. Guests have use of the laundry room with washing machine and dryer for a small charge. Would definitely stay again if we visit Kaikoura.

Located on the Kaikoura seafront, Anchor Inn Motel would have to be one of the better places to stay whilst in New Zealand. The view out of the front doors is to die for, but it doesn't stop there. The owners are a very friendly couple who have gone out of their way to make sure everything is perfect for their guests. It was about the only place we stayed that had air conditioning, which for us Aussies is important in summer. The room and facilities were excellent and I would highly recommend a stay here when in beautiful Kaikoura.

Room Tip: Rooms opposite the seafront are a dream especially with the verandah opposite the beach.

We visited when the roads north and south were both blocked, entailing a long detour. We didn't regret the extra travelling time for one moment! The owners were super friendly and helpful when we arrived, and booked us a table at the nearby Pier Hotel (walking distance) so that we could get the crayfish supper we wanted.

The room was spacious, spotless, well furnished (if a little dated) and fully equipped, and had a beautiful outlook right over the bay.

The location is A1 - the owners are ever so helpful - the room is very tidy and clean. Everything is just dandy! Enjoy! Are looking forward to have a chat with the whales and the dolphins in the South Pacific Ocean. Maybe I’ll have a dip myself.
Best regards,

Spotless room, beautiful outlook over the ocean, close to great pub for seafood, made very welcome by Aussie Lyn & Kiwi husband - even cuddles when you leave! They were in the motel at the time of the earthquake followed by a cyclone, so full of local information.
Must take the road via Hanmer Springs to Christchurch which Lyn suggested - well worth the extra 45 minute drive. Thanks guys - we won't forget your castle!
