Such a disappointing hotel mostly due to the rooms and front desk staff. The rooms have dorm quality furnishings, the sleeping area is separated from the bathroom by a sheet. The double beds are barely larger than a twin. You cannot sleep two to a bed. Any family of 4 needs to get two rooms. Great little outdoor balcony…with plastic outdoor furniture. Found cockroaches in our room.

Everyone we came across in Costa Rica was amazing…with the exception of the front desk staff at this hotel. They may be demoralized by having to deal with the guest’s disappointment in their rooms and you can feel it in the lobby. When we arrived we were met by…no one. We had to carry our bags in with the assistance of our driver. Staff in the lobby just stared at us as I carried in the laundry of my children and grandparents. I looked around the lobby anytime I passed thru to see if it was just me but there never seemed to be anyone greeting guests.

The rest of the staff beyond the lobby was great from servers to cleaners. The landscapers are the All Stars of the hotel because the grounds are gorgeous. It’s really too bad that the hotel rooms are so bad.

Food is actually pretty good with good variety. The shrimp at the steak restaurant was actually the best thing I ate in Costa Rica.

The pool is nice, but is 4’7” of depth everyplace. The only place my 8 year old could stand were the steps or the shelf. The water slides were fun for a morning but it’s so hot out there and there isn’t enough shade for all parents watching kids.

A beautiful well-maintained grounds and lobby but once you get to your room a totally different story. Our room was damp and needed renovating. Really small poor quality TV. Forget internet service. The grounds are spectacular but the FOOD WAS THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF ALL. I felt like I was on a bland diet for a week. I didn't look forward to the meals at all. There are five restaurants but believe it or not they all serve the same food. We would see what we ordered at the Japanese restaurant being served for lunch at the buffet the next day. So no matter where we went, we were greeted with blandness. The location is really far from anything on a long curvy road that is always being patched, so it's not like you can run across the street for something tasty. I would give the food a 2 at best. The service was good with friendly staff. The bar was good. Drinks in the room ok if you like hard liquor. Very clean and well-maintained pools. For me, I like to taste local cuisine and experience new local flavors. The buffet had anything you could dream of from Froot Loops, to deviled eggs, and BBQ ribs-but the FLAVOR was nonexistent on the cooked foods. Excellent fruit selections. Desserts-pass. Who puts raisins in apple pie?? Ice cream was good. I will never go back there. Maybe I was expecting a little too much for an all-inclusive but you can tell they buy the food in bulk, and the quality just isn't there. This trip ruined my expectations for all-inclusive. I think I'll just bite the bullet and forge for my own meals the next time. For the price point, definitely NOT WORTH IT. We saw good reviews on this place, which is why we went but...if you don't care about flavorful food and damp out of date rooms, then you will definitely enjoy it.

Lovely property but the hotel needs upgrading.

Good: hotel grounds; friendly staff; entertainment; spa

Bad: beds were hard also pillows; Japanese restaurant food; pool lounge chairs looked old and in need of repair/replacement; television had fuzzy pictures on most channels.

Average: Food in main buffet; beach sand is very hot, beach not used much, looks like most people stay in the pool.
