Very happy that we found this restaurant for a lovely family meal. We had some of the best Italian food we have had in a long time with fantastic home made pasta, the kids pizzas were also excellent.

Thank Graham S

We stay in Chitignano a lot, Panta Rei is always a treat. All the dishes are good but the pasta is special (ncluding the chestnut) and the beef is a real speciality. They have a fine wine selection. The staff are friendly and are happy to talk about the food.

Pleasant atmosphere, ability to handle large groups without delay and a kitchen that handles local food with skills. Don't try to approach the restaurant at daytime to reserve tables, though - it appears permanently closed, but comes to life in the evening.

Leaving La Verna we consulted TripAdvisor for a restaurant in the area. Osteria Panta Rei was one of the top choices but it was listed in Chitignano. After an exhaustive search of Chitignano with no luck we gave up and headed back to Poppi. Much to our surprise and pleasure a few miles out of town we soon came to Osteria Panta Rei in La Casa. What good fortune! The Osteria is in a secluded but beautiful location near a small river. It was late for lunch by the time we found it and only one other table was occupied. We chose to take an outside table as the weather was nice. This may have been one of the better meals we had in Italy. The seafood antipasta was over the top and the pear and parmigiano ravioli simply amazing. We topped it off with outstanding homemade desserts. Service was brisk but unobtrusive and the bill was beyond reasonable for the quality of the meal. Hard to find but well worth the effort!!

This restaurant is going to be widely known now, but it was only locally appreciated up to short time ago. The location is beautiful, in the road from Rassina to Chiusi della Verna in a side valley of the beautiful Casentino valley in Tuscany. The restaurant is cozy, suited for a romantic dinner, but also for a lunch with family and friends, and the menu is simply superb, and continously varied. Prices are low, with respect to the quality of food and serving. All in all, definitely a place to go and to return.
