Situated just out of town, three minute drive or 20 minute walk to the harbour. We had a long drive to get there and all we were interested in was a base to explore the Whitsundays. We had a very nice welcome at reception and the accommodation was just right. Modern, compact, very well equipped and a view to die for. A really nice surprise and I would have no hesitation in telling people to chose to stay there.

This place is fantastic!! We had a car the whole time so location was great. We got the room 3 of house 4 and the view was unbelievable!! The room was very comfortable and clean!! There is 4 houses, each house has 4 suites each and a common area (kitchen and living room). Peter was very helpful giving us tour tips. We had a great time there!

The room we stayed with another three rooms are in one bungalow situated in a lush green of rainforest. From the spacey verandah you can enjoy the view to the ocean and the rainforest where you might vis a vis to a Laughing Kookaburra. Each room has an ensuite bathroom and a balcony. Tee/coffee in room. The modern kitchen has a fridge, a microwave, a stove and a complete set of dishware.

We stayed here for 2 nights and we didn't want to leave! Absolutely the best stay we have had in Australia, super clean and nice! Peter is a wonderful host! We got placed in a room the over looked the ocean and the rainforest. We even lucked out with having the whole place to ourselves, which just made the stay even more enjoyable! Even if there was other guests we couldn't complain! Having a fully functioning kitchen was awesome we could cook every meal! BBQ topped it all off! Can't say anything bad about our stay! We will return!!

For the first time in over 100 Trip Advisor reviews I would like to say that if there was a '6 Star' accommodation rating this place would get it. It was paradise on earth. We'd had a long but fabulous day on Hamilton Island as part of our road trip from Cape Tribulation to Sydney. We turned up with no booking at 7pm to be shown a fabulous room and then an A-M-A-Z-I-N-G room. Needless to say we took the latter - the King Suite. Both were only priced at $149 which was incredible value. The King Suite is huge, 160 square metres with a huge bed looking out to the Whitsundays. Even better was the very large deck which was completely netted to keep out wildlife. As someone who was living in trepidation of most of Australia's wildlife this sold it to me immediately. Well that and the giant, comfortable bed, the beautiful bathroom facilities, the spa bath and lovely hanging seats on the deck, the light, airy space, being up amongst the rainforest trees, the friendly owners. Jasper the family cat.....

The room was only available as Pete had received a last minute cancellation. We were planning to stay only one night in each place to keep up with our road trip but couldn't give up the chance of another night at this idyllic place. We had to drive 9 hours the day we left to 'catch up' but boy was it worth it! [We saw 2 turtles lay over 100 eggs each at Mon Repos beach the evening after that long drive but that's another story and another Trip Advisor review]

Pete pointed us to a good Thai food takeaway in the shopping centre down the hill. We didn't want to eat in a restaurant as we wanted to take in that view for as long as possible. The Thai place was great - freshly cooked and very tasty - some of the best Thai food we'd had.

When we got back from getting our Thai food we found a fresh mango , chopping board and knife on the stairs to our room – I had been admiring the mango trees in the parking area and Pete had picked one for me. The following night we’d bought steaks from the shopping centre and Pete sorted us out to use the communal BBQ on the deck by the central seating area. Nothing was too much for him and his lovely wife Jules. He was also full of good advice about our road trip which we much appreciated.

One thing we loved about the Whitsundays Rainforest Retreat is that is encourages guests to talk to one another, There's a beautiful area downstairs with the most gorgeous indoor pool and a large seating area. We sat here one night and had some tremendous conversations with fellow travellers. One young Dutch couple in particular were very interesting. They were also doing a road trip but had been way inland to some mining areas. We'd wondered about doing that so were glad to hear of their experiences and advice. We decided to continue down the coast!

We cannot thank Pete and Jules enough for our 2 night stay in paradise. If only it wasn’t a 30 hour journey from our home to get there or we’d be there every year.

Room Tip: Treat yourself to the King Suite - the view is amazing
