Although many of the plantings were not Japanese (because of weather conditions) the design and layout and the content of the gardens were excellent and it had a Japanese feel and better than many Japanese gardens in Japan. The place was immaculate and not a blade of grass too long or a weed in sight. A must see in Cowra. Interesting to note that one sign at the side of a pond with white stones had incorrect Japanese. In English it said "Please stay off the stones" and in Japanese "Please keep the stones". A great example of what can be done with attention to detail--thanks tho Ken Nakajima who designed the garden.

These gardens are very well maintained. It is worth a visit if you go to Cowra and have not been there before. I would say that the entry fee for a family is a bit steep and it the NSW Dine and Discover Vouchers made it worthwhile.

This is what we came to Cowra to see - these splendid Japanese gardens. so beautifully laid out and maintained, and so skilfully built around the large rocks and the hillside. It was a scorcher of a day but there was always some shade to seek to just reflect on the perfection of the gardens. The representative home, the lakes and water features and the bonsai collection are all added features.

The Japanese Gardens are absolutely beautiful. There is a lovely path which winds its way through the gardens. It is both wheelchair and pram friendly, although a little steep at times perhaps. There are lovey places to sit and watch the ducks or just admire the gardens.

A little gem just a short distance from the centre of Cowra. An idyllic oasis for a walk in gorgeous surroundings.
