Our little cabin: simple but cosy and pretty decent

We were so tired after a whole day's tour driving from warnambool to port Campbell. We arrived quite late but the check in was a Breeze. We asked about dinner options and were told there is a small store and some eateries nearby within few mins drive. Nice place for a nite stop.

We stayed in the 3 bedroom cabin which is complete with a stove, fridge, microwave and the likes. The cabin was very well planned with the kitchen and dining separated from the corridor leading to the rooms and toilet. It has a mixture of modern and old furniture. Cosy and comfortable for a night's stay or even longer. They provided more than enough blankets and even single mattresses.

Beds had electric blankets and electric heaters. One of the heaters didn't work but the staff managed to replace with a new one and it worked very well.

When we came, there was no one but instructions were clear enough to be followed and we made ourselves at home quickly. Our cabin had sufficient space for 2 cars to park and if it was in the summer, we could have relaxed at the deck.

Location is excellent; around 10 mins drive to the 12 Apostles so we were able to catch the sunrise without waking up very early. We needed some groceries and drove around 15 mins to Timboon. The IGA closes at 6pm so have to take note. Still close enough for last min items.

In a nutshell, Summer's Rest is a convenient and cosy place to stay at Port Campbell. East access to 12 Apostles and short drive to the wild life park. Really love the lay out of the 3 bedroom apartment. Good for families with kids as the food can be contained in one area and we do not need to worry about spillage onto the carpet.

One thing that we wished for was to be able to meet Ron and Ruth and to visit their farm :)

We had a short stay (due to late check-in at 8pm and went out early at 6am for sun rise). But overall we are happy with the unit due to: 1. 10 min drive to Twelve Apostles 2. The unit is clean and comfy 3. Good facilities in the house (eg: microwave, tooster, pot and pan, kitchen utensils) - we were able to entertain ourselves with simple dinner as the nearby restaurants all closed before 9pm. 4. Electric bed warmer, so it is very helpful when we get in bed during cold weather

However, parking space is limited to 1 car per house. We traveled in 2 cars, but only 1 car could park beside the house and one out at the public roadside.

On the eastern outskirts of Port Campbell, but only a very short drive into the beach and business area. We stayed for one night and found our 2 bedroom, self-contained cabin to be clean, comfortable and quiet. The office wasn't manned when we arrived lat afternoon but there was a notice board giving us easy to follow instructions, or a buzzer/telephone if you needed to speak to them, management did check in on us later which was nice. The price for 1 night over the April school holidays was very reasonable considering how close it was to the 12 Apostles and on par with similar accommodation we stayed in along the Great Ocean Road and on Phillip Island.

Stayed in the 2 bedroom cabin which was quite dated, I didn't expect to see an old style demountable cabin when I turned up. Rooms are very small with a double bed packed into the main bedroom, nothing bigger would fit. Best thing about the place is the proximity to so many of the GOR's attractions

Pros: location easy to get to, unit came with fully-equipped kitchen.

The ok part: the weather was rather chilly and they had only one aircon for the whole unit (we had a 2 bedroom unit). During hot summer days, I imagine the one aircon will not be sufficient to keep the whole unit cold. But since it was chilly, the aircon was sufficiently cold for the whole unit.

The con: Was not told that the WiFi is limited by 2 hours of use per day.

Overall, the unit allows us a good respite after the long drive along the Great Ocean Road.
