We sat down at 1:15pm and didn't get our food until after 3pm. It would have been ok if the waitress and staff were apologetic but they were completely uninterested and defensive. We tried to talk to the manager but got no attention from him either. Such a shame because it's a beautiful spot and the food (once it finally arrived) was good. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area where the staff is lovely so no need to go here. The waitress' name was Pia by the way. Stay away.

Thank you for your feedback, even it is a big complaint, but as you know you only can learn by mistakes. We apologise for all the inconveniences you had that day at lunch on our terrace. As far as I can tell you was the reason for long waiting times that nearly all our guests (more than 100) came around 1:30pm. Because we are cooking on demand, absolutely fresh and individual for every table it was for a day like that Thursday impossible to do a faster service. This day was the strongest day during the season. Pia usual is a very reliable person, well educated and working hard with us since several seasons, winter and summer, but not perfect in your language. We regret the bad experience you had and would love to turn your opinion into a positive feeling if you would give us a second chance. Since Saturday the weather changed and we couldn`t even open up the terrace because of snowfall.
At least we hope that the food served met your expectation and we remain with our best regards,
Jakob and Renate Wrann

I have stayed many times at the Bergkristall when my children were little as it is right by the nursery slope. Now the children are grown up we prefer to ski St.Anton, but I go back and see the family Wrann at least once if not twice to eat lunch there. If the weather is sunny they have a large sunny but private terrace where they serve a lunch that few restaurants could beat. They have daily specials that are to die for. I had pasta ribbons (parpadelle) with fresh Steinpilz (Porchini mushroom) and shavings of fresh period truffles. My son had a wiener schnitzel that is to die for. But the choice of fresh fish such as Dover sole, monk fish and lobster pasta just goes on.
But you must book! This place is known by enough people that it is packed daily in the high season and probably low too.
I can also recommend the hotel to stay in as a comfortable well run smaller personal place to stay and they keep updating everything whilst still keeping that mountain charm.

Room Tip: Even of you don't stay, book for lunch! It will be memorable.

I stayed for 4 nights with my husband on a get away without kids. The setting and location in Oberlech are perfect - ski down path in morning to a T bar lift that takes 1 min and you are on the slopes and ski back along same path from other direction when returning. Bergkristall is a small boutique style hotel with a cosy atmosphere. Spa facilities are nice, if a little on small side. We didn't care much for our pink bedroom - there was no picture in the room which seems strange for a 4 star hotel and it was quite small, but we had a balcony and a nice view. Bathroom needs refurbishing - I guess that is on owners list of things to do next. We weren't excited by the food at dinner and found it to be ok, nothing special and that was a bit disappointing as we had fabulous food at a hotel in Lech last year. The staff didn't seem too enthusiastic either - none of them skied, although they are working in a ski resort and their german and english skills were very limited. None of them were locals and this is also disappointing as it is always good to get a local flavour and charm from the place you are visiting when on holiday. The main disappointment was that in a small boutique style hotel personal contact from owners would be the norm and the owners of this hotel, although present for dinner did not take the time to go round and chat to guests and find out if they were having a good time and overall this lack of interest came across as though they didn't care, but with a little more attention and interest on their side, the hotel could get some local flavour and guests would feel truly looked after!

I regularly come to Lech for the past 15 years and this Hotel is surely an excellent choice. With 40+ rooms it is big enough to offer an amazingly beautiful spa that is very quite due to the fact that it is adult only, but yet it has all the charm of a family run mountain hotel.

Being from the Alps myself I do not agree with the fact that the owner is rude - she is authentic and I assume that especially this authentic alpeniennen style can be interpreted as rude by foreigners . The rooms are nice and spacious. Ski in and ski out is very convenient and can easily be done for less experienced skiers.

BF is excellent, a la carte lunch is too with very nice seafood choices. Half board dinner is good, but not excellent and en par with other hotels in Lech. There are certainly troubles in half board dinner with getting the temperatures right on fish dishes - so better opt for the meat option.

Except the Wifi which is quite poor but free, all hardware is very good. However because the hotel offers such excellent value for money they try to run with a quite small crew that makes service excellence hard even though all people have the right mindset.

Would certainly recommend to go given the prices charged.

This was our fourth visit to Oberlech, always staying at the Goldener Berg. We had a great Skiing Instructor called Bernt again this year who recommended we go to lunch at the Bergkristall. What an amazing choice of food, with around 6 daily specials, traditional Austrian dishes, oysters, fresh fish, beef tartar, white truffle risotto with scallops, and much more. Plus a good children's menu and a superb wine list. So enjoyable was it that we had lunch there 3 times during our 6 days of skiing. I would recommend it to everyone.
