Description: "German gastronauts are well aquainted with the interior of Vendôme, the famously 3-Michelin-starred restaurant located inside the Grand Hotel Schloss Bensberg in Cologne. The restaurant itself look like a rather well kept Prada store, understated and chic with splashings of sage green and discreet ruby red, and the glossy gourmet crowd are enamoured with the acclaimed menu created by super-chef Joachim Wissler. Star dishes include the calf's head in a parsley-horseradish vinaigrette wild celery and aioli of capers; the grilled saddle of lamb from Müritz with green olives in lamb tea and ricotta gnocchi; and the Manjari chocolate fondant with frozen blackberry foam. Vendôme boasts a 900+ wine list. "

Vendome was delivering the sky high expectations with a great selection of starters, mains and deserts.
Most likely the most exclusive restaurant in the German state of
Nordrhein-Westfalen.

What a spectacular birthday present, the restaurant is small with great daylight and comfortable environment. The staff are charming and attentive, relaxed and fun. The food was wonderful... the Toffifee mini starter (of fois grois) was my favorite of the dishes, but the six course menu was beautifully balanced with duck, snails, fish, langoustine and playful touches of fresh zingy leafy treats with each dish to tease your palette. The wine list is extensive with a knowledge sommelier. A great venue for a treat.

Was surprised to have been able to secure a reservation for dinner on a Thursday evening. A beautiful evening, the restaurant is located in a stand alone building in the grounds of the hotel and offers a picturesque view of Cologne. Staff are polite, friendly, professional. We opted for the 5 course tasting menu with accompanying wine which represented excellent value at €215 per person. I read an earlier review that thought the wines served with this menu were below parr but I would have to disagree. Ok, they were a bit off the beaten track but were all delicious and rather generous portions. Of course, you also get an amuse bouche, delicious bread and salted butter, coffee and petit fours so you certainly get great value for your money. What was lovely about the establishment was the relaxed ambience amongst the other patrons and staff. No pretentiousness, you definitely felt that people were there to enjoy great food and not there to be seen. The total bill came to €480 which included 2 bottles of sparkling water and 2 delicious glasses if German Sekt. Would definitely return if ever I find myself in Cologne again in the future.

I was worried I might leave hungry and ordered the 8-course meal. I wish I did the 5-course, there was plenty of food. You will not leave hungry. I recommend getting the earliest reservation, 7pm. Joachim Wissler greeted us upon entering the restaurant which was a real honor. Our meal took 3,5 hours as well. Definitely order the wine course.. amazing. The wine pairing was very well done, highly recommend.
