In this place we felt like home. The food is amazing, (even simple things like grilled vegetables were delicious) and presented so well that every tapa comes as a surprise, while you're waiting for the next dish you wonder about the presentation.
In an October evening in Ronda, that is 700 meters above the sea level, the temperature can be fresh so I was a little bit cold.. but promptly the very nice waiter covered me with a scarf. :-)
The location was very charming just next to old city walls and in a quiet area (not too much crowded).
We came without reservation and the bar was full but they asked us to come back in 30 minutes and, after a walk in the old town, when we came back our table was waiting for us.

We ate here after receiving a suggestion from an inhabitant from Cadiz. We happily thank him. The dinner (consisting of very creative spanish/asian tapas) was good and the intimate atmosphere was very romantic. The place has just a few tables outside and inside, and resides close to the city wall of the Old Ronda. The food has superb spices, is creatively decorated, and it just different from the ordinary tapas in other Spanish restaurants. Absolutely nice were: Teriyaki chicken, mini burger, mexican taco, fried thai prawns, pork belly and the berry white choloclate. The menu is both in English and Spanish (be aware that it is not identical). We recommend to make a reservation, because we got only the last free place that night.

Despite living/visiting in and around Ronda for the last decade this was our first experience of De Locos Tapas. Now we are wishing we had found it sooner.
This tiny restaurant located just inside the Almocabar Gate off Plaza Portugal in the “old town” has deservedly earned a reputation of being one of the very best in Ronda and was highly recommended to us by local friends.
The menu can best be described as “Spanish Fusion” so may raise a few eyebrows from the pure traditionalists. I suspect the name and logo is a nod to this “radical approach” Don’t be put off by any gain sayers. You owe it to yourself to experience it.
Pre-booking is a must. We witnessed several couples and groups “turned away” who had no reservations. They do have a website but I found it flaky- better to drop in in person or telephone (951 08 37 72).
There is ample dining al fresco under the city wall but there is also a small first floor dining area inside if the weather is inclement.
There is an extensive choice of meat, fish, vegetable dishes (we tried a mixture). All are modern variations on the more traditional tapas offerings and all were superb. Amazing and varied tastes freshly prepared and beautifully presented. Honestly, we have not had better anywhere in the world.
Food of this quality is very rare in our experience especially for the ridiculously low cost. 7 shared tapas and 4 finos for €30!

Just within the city walls towards the south (old) part of town. You sit outside (shady at 2.00pm in September ) or inside and are served with a succession of incredibly beautiful tapas. And they taste to match! Served with a modern twist. Not expensive either. We had smoked sardines, tomato sorbet (yes really - had to ask what it was as so delicious ), teppanyaki, lamb tagine, plus others and they were all really tasty and each one a triumph in its own right.
