We travelled here in February 2012 as two families and stayed for one night to visit Petropolis and experience a different side to Rio state. The poussada is in a beautiful location with gorgeous gardens and grounds and lots of facilities (outdoor and indoor pools, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, pool tables, relaxation areas) as well as serving drinks, light snacks and breakfast. They also have an excellent and good value wine selection, which is rare to find in Rio. Some of the Chilean and Argentinian reds are particularly good value. The service was attentive but discreet and we felt very at home there. We wished we'd stayed longer! The rooms are all different - we stayed in Provence and Belle Maison which were both lovely and easily accomodated the extra bed we required in each room. They were accessed in a small, private courtyard which was perfect for 2 families. The children were well accomodated and loved running around the garden and trying to spot parrots in the trees. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay close to Itaipava and Petropolis.More
