“Great stay in a wonderful location, staff were everything you would wish for.”
Reviewed 1 March 2012

Situated just off Old Town Square, the hotel gives visitors easy access to many iconic locations on both sides of the Vltava. There are plenty of great restaurants, museums and bars on the doorstep. If you like in particular the Art Deco and Art Noveau side of Prague this is the district for you. Although the hotel has a modern decor, the service is very much old fashioned with a warm welcome and nothing too much trouble for the staff either day or night. We were upgraded to a suite because my fiancee was on crutches with a leg injury and the staff went out of their way to be helpful and kind throughout our stay. We would recommend choosing one of the many suites as this offers spacious and comfortable accommodation. We had a living room overlooking Tyn Church which was beautiful. The hotel itself has a large and airy reception much nicer than many of the more expensive hotels in the area. We stayed half board which was a luxury as all we had to do was turn up at the restaurant for lunch or dinner when we were ready. The restaurant offered a wide selection of European and 'modern' Czech cuisine which was good quality and well presented. One of the most striking features was the cleanliness of the rooms and public areas. There was also a choice of pillow types from feather to orthopaedic which was a nice touch!

Room Tip: Rooms on north-west corner are likely to have a view of Tyn Church.

We flew out on Thursday and arrived around 8pm and had booked a standard room. I had emailed the hotel before we flew out as we were celebrating our engagement. When we arrived they upgraded our room and we had champagne and cake in the room. The room was fantastic and very spacious. The staff were brilliant and very helpful.

Would definitely recommend this hotel for a weekend. It was centrally located to the Old Town and restaurants/shops etc. Absolutely perfect!

This hotel is an excellent choice for a break in Prague; its location is right in the Old Town, only a few minutes walk from the Old Town Square and all the sights you would want to see yet is also very quiet. A lovely meander through pretty, cobbled (quite touristy!) streets takes you to Charles Bridge in about 30 minutes which leads on to the castle once crossed. Upon arrival at the hotel you are greeted with a large glass of mulled wine and very friendly service. Our room was large, clean and very modern with all you need. Breakfast was buffet style including tea and coffee which you help yourself to (always handy so you can have it when you like!) large choice of cooked food, cereals and danish pastries. Service at breakfast was quick to clear plates etc.
We dined in the hotel one evening and the food was good, and very reasonably priced, the only negative would be a long wait for service but this may just have been that night. There was some very nice relaxing live music within the dining room while we were there.
Restaurants in the Old Town Square are over priced for tourists. One tip for lovely, non touristy, properly cooked, fantastic food and beer in a rustic atmosphere is the Restaurant Mlejnice which is located in an alley just off the old town square, just a few steps away but much cheaper and nicer.
All in all i would recommend the Hotel Barcelo Old Town and would return anytime.

Me and my GF went to Prague for my bday (didn’t get any sparkling wine what so ever) booked a standard room for 8nights, which had two twin beds put together, the first night was horrible because the beds were separating, but the next morning I asked if they had a king size bed and they moved us to a mini suite, with its own dining table and separate toilet room, it was just perfect! one thing is that the cleaning lady could do a bit better!!!

THE Breakfast is really good, but after 4 days getting the same you get a bit tired of it, but when is included on your nightly rate, who cares... it’s just perfect!!!!

The LOCATION was just a short walk to old town square, not more than 5 min. To the nice shops on the Jewish quarter 7min, 15min to Charles bridge, public transportation 2 min. YOU DONT NEED A TAXI to move around...

THE STAFF was really helpful, but Antonio just couldn’t be more kind, my GF got sick and he brought her medicine from his house. BEWARE OF THE BLOND GUY AT THE FRONT DESK HES AROGANT AND MEAN AND WATCH OUT FOR THE ARAB GUY AT THE DOOR. UGHH!!
