Arrived on Sunday the 18th of June .Hotel appeared quiet. No indication of the work that was going on in the hotel nor mention of it at the time of check in .Room appeared tired and a little shabby and towels in particular were old washed out and very hard. The rooms were on the second floor at the front facing a busy road There was no air conditioning but a floor fan .The weather was hot so the windows were open and it was very noisy well into the early hours so sleep was difficult .

Breakfast was limited both in quantity and space .Work was being I undertaken with a lot of drilling and hammering .We were on the second floor and on the second morning we were woken by renovation works in the room opposite .The work stated early in the morning and was unexpected and alarming to be woken by such a noise .Drilling and hammering continued well into the morning and was still on going when we returned to the hotel that evening .Furniture was stacked in the corridor outside our rooms and was a hazard if their had been a fire .particularly as there was no indication that such extensive work would be going on during our stay .When we raised our concerns it was the receptionist that we had to deal with .The manager was conspicuous by his absence and she was ordered to offer us 550 krona as means of compensation .We felt sorry for her as she was evidently embarrassed and on the front line .When we were leaving the following afternoon other people were booking in and the receptionist dealing with them could not make herself heard above the noise.
It would have been better if the hotel had closed for a period of time to allow the renovations to be completed .Better still it would have been appropriate to inform people at the time of booking about the extent of the work that was being undertaken to allow them to decide if Bene was the best option in relation to their accommodation choice for their break .Prague is a beautiful city but the hotel experience and complete lack of customer care was not good .The reception staff were courteous and polite Breakfast staff appeared disinterested and did not speak to us at all.

Room Tip: quietest rooms are on the higher floors. Before booking it might because to ask if work has been com...

Booked this Hotel for 3 nights, thought we were staying in a 3 star hotel, but it felt more like a hostel. Room was basic but ok for 3 nights, unfortunately our stay went from bad to worse.
Renovations were going on downstairs, which was bad enough, but on our 2nd day were woken at 6 am with hammering and drilling in room opposite, which went on until after 6pm that day. Workmen also thought it was ok to put bedroom furniture in the passage way, which had there been a fire, would have obstructed our way out.
We complained at reception, repecrionish rang her Manager, and after a brief conversation with him in their language which we could not understand, we were given 550 Kronas, for our taxi the following day, which was less than we had to pay.
With so much renovation work going on, this hotel should have been closed to visitors until completed.
The only good comment I have to make is the location of this property was within a short distance to the bars, restaurants and shops.

Room Tip: Wait until renovations are completed

Good location to tourist spots. Hotel was clean and beds, although hard, were comfortable. No air conditioning in bedroom just an upright fan which I guess uses a lot of electricity but with no benefit. Towels in room were scratchy. Renovations are taking place on 5th floor but didn't give us any trouble. If you like meats and cheeses then you'll enjoy breakfast. Not too much choice and breakfast area is quite small. I would stay again to be fair.

Residence Bene is in a great location for the old city sites. Easy walking to most sites and excellent metro, bus and train services. But at present renovations are happening everywhere. Our first room had work happening in front , both sides and on the third day directly above us. When the work was still happening at 8PM we had enough and the manager realised this was completely unsatisfactory. We were moved the next day to a much larger room, that actually had a phone, a microwave and a couch, but still had work going on above us. The beds are firm but the towels even firmer!!

Room Tip: The top floor rooms are much quieter and the corner ones are larger.

This place is very decent, located within walking distance to touristic sights. Room was clean and comfortable. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.

The windows in my room were covered with near opaque film, which made it feel slightly claustrophobic. I think it was because renovations were being undergone on the facade. No construction noise though, which is good. I could hear my neighbours through a hole in the toilet wall. The lock on the door was frustrating, I had to enlist the help of fellow guests to open the door. Tip: pull the key towards you and push the door to open it. The hotel felt a bit old and run down, not in a comfortable or quaint way, but in a cold way. Toilet was cold.

These issues are easily overlooked if you just need a place to sleep while vacationing, although there may be better choices if you look around. I switched to a hostel after one night because it felt a bit lonely(solo travel), and that was a great decision. However, this hotel is completely serviceable and offers a comfortable place to lay your head after a full day of exploration.
