I spent a wonderful four days in the "Goldwasser" and can recommend it very highly. The rooms are full of character and with beautiful views front and back, the staff are very friendly and helpful in every way, and the attached restaurant serves some of the best meals in Gdansk. And (contrary to other reviews I have seen) the apartments do have very hot water all the time! I travel a lot so I have much to compare with the Goldwasser, but couldn't have been happier.

Room Tip: I didn't see the other rooms but it looks like they all have windows onto the river on one side and garden the other - both lovely views.

This hotel had some serious issues, but on the other hand it had its advantages too. The location was suberb, the rooms were spacious and beautiful, the breakfast was really great and you could enjoy it on the balcony facing the river. BUT, there was not hot water. That's right, no hot water at all. So folks, if you would like to stay in this beautiful and expensive hotel, be prepared to have very refreshing showers.

The room/small apartement we stayed in was a bit tired but cosy and had a balcony perfect for people-watching. There is a small fridge in the room, but no kettle for making coffee/tea.
The area is really beautiful with a great view from our room (nr 4). But be aware that this is first and foremost a busy restaurant, then a hotel/b&b.The entrance to the rooms is through the narrow bar and at nights through the backddoor with barrels of beer etc. The staff is working really hard, but are clearly concentrating on running the restaurant. We would love to go back to Gdansk, but will prefer another place to stay.

Its a real shame i cant give this a higher review as there is so much right about this hotel. But our room had no hot water, a problem that the manager was aware of and offered no solution so we therefore couldnt shower for 2 days. Im sorry but that is a major issue and the fact they knew about it and told us it was because its an old building makes it pretty woeful. The location is outstanding, service is helpful, breakfast was wonderful, the rooms were ok. Had the shower been working properly we would gladly come back again but for this reason we will look elsewhere in future. Shame.

The location is clearly the big seller here. And yes it is amazing, overlooking the river and thriving town. The building itself is stunning. But on our first night we had only ice cold water for the shower, I went to the manager and he said "it's an old building so you may have to wait half an hour maybe longer for hot water", I'm sorry but this is a hotel not a youth hostel, and also for Polish prices it's of the high end. So much right with the place but so much wrong also. Will never stay here again.
