One of the leaders in new Slovenian cuisine, Monstera was a pleasant place for a long lunch. They have a set menu each day with 2 choices for each course. Between my family we tried all the options and enjoyed them all. The price was reasonable and service was great.

Well known ingredients combined in superior interweaving of flavors. Composition of food on the plate creates a meal full of imagination that verge on an art piece. Prices are a bit higher, but for such a high range food are appropriate. Friendly, professional services and comfortable and modern ambient create an unforgeable experience. I highly recommend the visit of this little cozy bistro.

So my friend said they improved - And that the lunch is better than dinner. So we went for another try.

Lunch is OK, definitely worth paying around 20 EUR for three-course lunch. The beer was expensive (some craft beer made just for the restaurant at almost 5 EUR) and nothing special. Not many customers drank any alcohol. The food was fresh, nicely done.

Service was a bit awkward (waiter completely forgot one of us ordered something else - I mean entree was two choices, main dish two options, desert two options, which makes eight possibilities? How can you forget that even if you wrote it down)? My friend had to wait 5-7 minutes for his dish (the rest of us already ate) but was OK with it later.

All in all, I give it a 4 (previously a 3) - Mainly because the service had not improved that much. And because it was in the area of 3.5-4.2 and I decided to give them 4, because I was told they now tell dinner guests what they get and offer a change for a dish that is exquisite, but the guest doesn't want (i.e. bone marrow, nose, etc.).

Please improve the beer selection and work on your service...

Dear FrankyRicc,

thank you for becoming our regular guest!

There is only one information in your post that we have to correct - our craft Monstera double IPA beer costs 4,30 EUR for 0,5 L, which would make a "common craft beer bottle of 0,33 L" cost 2,58 EUR - and by all means this is not expensive. It's after all home-made, not industrial beer.

As for the service, we are sorry for the waiter's unfortunate mistake!

Best Regards,
Monstera bistro Team

This is not an every-day type of place, as you need to reach a little deeper into your pocket. However, it is a fantastic experience. Try the lunch menu, which is changed every week according to seasonally available ingredients.
