I eat no pork so my menu was more or less vegetarian. Tasteless. Wines were bitter ones. Fast service.

This place came to our attention in a guide book. It was just one block away from the busy Vasci Utca and only 5 minutes walk from our accommodation. We turned up without a reservation and service was already in full flow with several large tables occupied. There were free tables but the waiter advised it would be 40-50 minutes before any food would come out of the kitchen as they were very busy. We debated whether to go elsewhere but decided to order a drink and wait. Although they were quite stretched, the waiters brought our drinks quickly and took our order. We shared a plate of tasty duck liver on toasted baguette and this arrived promptly to enjoy with our beers. Surprisingly, our main courses followed soon after, beating the predicted delay and exceeding our expectations. The two meals were a tender lamb ragout generously portioned, served with a strange pancake stuffed with cottage cheese and a crispy goose leg with a large serving of red cabbage and potato rosti. We both enjoyed a large glass of red wine from their list of recommendations.
With pleasant surroundings, good food at affordable prices and friendly, professional service we were sorry to have discovered the restaurant on our last night as we would have gone back.

Our apartment host told us about this great cellar type restaurant close to our apartment for good food and service... he was right the first night we had been on the train a long day and so were hungry and thirsty;... great starters... the garlic soup was awesome.... cheap wine buy the bottle and very reasonably priced... the chicken kabobs served with fruit and chocolate were great. so was the turkey and salmon.... the desserts were ok.. not so sweet if you have a sweet tooth

We have enjoyed a very good four course menu with selection of hungarian wines. White and red were good while rose was not so exciting. Nice and unussual combination of meals was an interesting.

Pros:
Large variety of starters, mains and desserts mostly meat and poultry dishes, few seafood and fish.
Salmon with vegetables was excellent. Venison stew with croquettes very good. Goulash soup was very tasty.
Large collection of wines.No beer.
Located in a small alley in Budapest’s inner city in a very nicely designed wine cellar in the basement.
Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Prices were very reasonable.
Reserve ahead in weekends.

Cons:
None
