Thoroughly enjoyed my time at the iberostar grand hotel Budapest, hotel staff went the extra mile, can’t think of staff names but all on the desk were very helpful. Being from England I wanted to know a few phrases in Hungarian as I think it shows a bit more respect to their culture so the man on the desk was delighted with this and gave me a little hints and tips leaflet for which I was very grateful.Comfortable bed in a luxurious room and amazing location just topped it off. Thanks for the experience IBEROSTAR!

Beautiful hotel in a super local- looking out onto a beautiful square, 5 mins or less from main Basilica and 10 mins max to the main square. Lovely quiet street with no street noise or disturbance. Super view from our room out over the square. Staff approachable and friendly from start to finish. Would hope to return.

We stayed here over Christmas and for anyone wanting a hotel from which to explore the main sights of Budapest this hotel could not be bettered. It overlooks Liberty Square where one can shake hands with Ronald Reagan as he continues to stare down the Russians ‘Liberation’ war memorial.

It is an easy walk to the Chain Bridge that takes one across to Buda and the old city on the hill plus the Hapsburg Palace now the home of the National Art Gallery.

It is only a five minute walk from the Parliament building where one can catch the No:2 line tram that runs right along the river and down to the National Theatre, for those EU citizens over 65 the transport is free, so get in quick before we leave!

The hotel itself is modern and the rooms spacious and well appointed, the bed was large and very comfortable, mark you after all the walking we did a plank would have felt like bliss. The shower was a delight, a massive head that could drown you, just what was needed after a day of walking, very reviving. The staff are unceasingly friendly and helpful, they greet you every-time you enter or leave and it never looks forced.

Breakfast is in the attached restaurant, part of the hotel building but not run by them. The food was typical to most continental offerings plus a hot selection from the menu, served quickly and equally good. We enjoyed Christmas Day dinner there and it was really very good and reasonably priced by central Budapest standards, just don’t expect turkey and the trimmings, that’s not Hungarian.

There is a ‘spa’ which is a bit of a let-down, a very small gym plus a large Jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna, no pool. Treatments are available to be booked and it looks as though the staff who give them come in from outside as needed. There is little information posted about the running of the place and if you need a locker key it comes from reception, not ideal when you are in the altogether before you find this out! This said it was adequate for a short workout and a good steam. The TV lacked most of the channels, looks like it is serious need of re-programming!

All in all a hotel to be recommended. Would we stay again? Certainly should we venture back to Budapest in the summer.
