Liszt’s last home in Budapest, in the past five years of his life, was in the building of the Old Music Academy. As the founder and professor of the academy, he didn’t accept any payment but the apartment where his students could visit. The instruments, books and scores he used while staying in town were all donated to the academy, and enriched with further donations and purchases, the whole Liszt Collection is on show here. The Memorial Museum functions also as a research center, and come Saturday, as a venue of matinee concerts. Don’t miss the tree-day-long Liszt Festival celebrating the 200th anniversary of Franz Liszt’s birth between October 21st and 23rd.
