This is a MUST for visiting Szeged. The Synagogue has beautiful architecture and is photogenic from all sides. The inside is dazzling with blue and gold everywhere. The motifs are easily recognizable scenes from the Torah and Pentateuch. I could have sat and stared at the inside of the building all day.
PRO TIP: The hours are from 10am-3pm daily, BUT the website specifies that from October to April the attendant might not be there the whole time. There should be a mobile phone number posted if the attendant is away. You can call and he/she will come and open the doors for you.
You can also request a tour in Hungarian or English, but you must arrange it ahead of time. We attempted to do this, but emailed at the last minute and were unable to make it work. I recommend emailing or calling the week before your visit.
