This trip was so much fun and really well organised. We met in Riga at nine in the morning and got to Tallinn just before 9 o'clock at night. And we managed to pack in loads of exciting stuff along the way.
The minibus we travelled in was modern, spacious and comfortable and our guide Andreas was brilliant. He was so knowledgeable about everything and was able to answer all of our silly questions as well as telling us all about the places we stopped in. He was also really funny and great company along the journey. If you get him for the trip, make sure and ask him to tell you how to say "Pass me another beer please" in Estonian!
One tip if you are doing this journey is to make sure you wear very comfortable shoes because there is quite a lot of walking involved, and some of this is up and down a lot of stairs - we counted every single one. You do need to be fairly mobile to be able to do all of the visits along the way.
On our journey we visited a few lovely towns and learnt about their history. Great photo opportunities too. We also visited a Soviet bobsleigh track and we were lucky enough that the Soviet team were actually training at the time so we were able to get really up close and personal and see them in action. We also visited a lovely town where we were planning to go to the castle but there was a Medieval festival on there at the time. However we all just paid an extra three euro admission and went to the festival which was an added bonus. We stopped for lunch in a beautiful restaurant and went walking in the National Park up to the sandstone cliffs and picked wild blueberries.
It really was a wonderful day and we saw things that we would never have known were there had it not been for Andreas. We even did an assault course in the Soviet military Museum. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone of any age who is interested in getting a broad experience of sights and activities on their journey between Riga and Tallinn.
