We stayed here one night as part of an overnight trip from Varadero, we were told it was more basic than the hotel we were in at Varadero but I wasn’t expecting what we found. We walked into the baking hot room, turned on the aircon unit that must have been at least 20 years old and sounded like a jet engine it was so loud, there was a huge gap around the unit which someone had tried to fill in with toilet paper. Beds smelled musty and the mattresses were only about 2 inches thick and bedsprings creaked very loudly with any movement whatsoever. We ate very little in the restaurant as the food choice in the buffet was barely warm and not very nice at all.
Finally we braved going back up a steep hill to our room to sleep and at about 2am was woken by something landing on my head!!
When we turned the lights on we found 4 FROGS!!! jumping around the room, we managed to catch two but got dressed and packed as decided we were not staying in a room with frogs in, reception were useless as when finally managed to wake the lady up in there she shrugged her shoulders and told us the hotel was full and couldn’t move us, she would send somebody to clear the room- as she put it kill the frogs. We ended up going back as we had nowhere else to sleep but didn’t get another minute’s rest which made the next day very difficult as we were so tired. DO NOT PAY TO STAY HERE!!!

Public Relations Response
In advance, the hotel management apologizes for any inconvenience it may have caused during your stay. Your comment was thoroughly investigated by the Public Relations and Reception section and it was determined that you were staying in room C1 and the incident occurred at 3 and 15 am where the receptionist explained that the hotel was full and called the guide who tried to solve the problem. Tell him that the hotel has a location where the presence of frogs is very prone but nevertheless all the necessary measures will be taken so that it does not happen again. Apologies again.

This hotel is really a series of duplex cabins sprinkled around a complex. They are a short walk to the bar/restaurant or to the pool. Each room has it's own deck, bathroom, and bedroom area. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom had a good size shower. The air conditioner worked fine. We had dinner at the hotel one night. It was buffet, with plenty of choice. Breakfast was the same and is included. Being up on a hill above Trinidad, you get a good view of the city, as well as a great view of the sunset.

We stayed for one night only (luckily). The room was very dirty. Thick layer of dust on the furniture and black hairs in the beds !. (Not ours) .The chalet attached to ours had its patio window smashed in and no attempt had been made to clear up the shattered pieces of glass. The air con is very noisy and ineffective. Food poor. I was ill the following evening but can’t say for sure it was due to what I had eaten at this hotel. On plus point the view is beautiful and only 10 min walk into center of Trinidad. Take time to go there for the evening if you can. The music and atmosphere are amazing. If I went back I would stay in a class in town.

Dear Custard22 the hotel management feels that your stay has not been to your liking, if you could give us the exact date of stay in which they stayed and the number of the room together with their personal data it would be easier to investigate what happened. For any situation or question, please write to the hotel's Public Relations Specialist. rpublicas@cuevas.tur.cu
In advance we ask for our sincere apologies. We will talk because situations like these do not happen again.

Set high on a cool(ish) breezy hill above the wonderful old Town of Trinidad, this is a great place for a couple of nights.
The website promotes its on-site disco more than the rooms and so we were slightly dubious before we arrived, but it exceeded our expectations and I'd recommend it as a comfortable place for 3-4 nights as you explore Trinidad.
It's old-fashioned, but they are refurbishing and we had two newly done rooms. These are little bungalows set in leafy grounds, a good size, with effective aircon and a decent bathroom.
There is a pool - it can get crowded, but is welcome at the end of a sticky day's sight-seeing, and the staff are so charming and friendly, even if the bar snacks are indifferent.
Breakfast was good, we ate in town for our other meals.
the town centre is a 10-15 minute walk away, but the return journey is up a steep hill, so take comfortable shoes (and buy a fan!)

Room Tip: Request a newly refurbished chalet - they haven't quite finished doing them all up yet

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. My room was basic but clean, comfortable, mini bar and working air-conditioning unit.Lovely pool, especially when it quietens down after 6pm, I also had a lovely early morning swim too. Breakfast was ok but Cuban coffee in state hotels isn't good. Only 10 min walk down the hill to the town, with the climb back up for the views worth it

Room Tip: Rooms by the pool are good but it's a bit further to go to the restaurant from there
