Owner description: Though arid and harsh, the Mojave Desert is home to over 200 endemic plant species and only one kind of tree, the Joshua Tree.

'It's definitely a story' we like to tell everyone.
Our plan was to drive from LA to Vegas in a mustang - and got there. Eventually. We got a little lost, but the actual desert was pretty awesome.
TIP: always make sure your GPS works from when you leave the car hire depot and make sure the charger works as well.

There is nothing much there to see, at least from the main Rd. We have seen so much interesting stuff on this trip this doesn't rate as one of the highlights. We were lucky we could put the top down and turn up the music.

Located south of Las Vegas: the best way to access this desert is by Interstate 15. It is about a 2 hour drive south of Las Vegas in California. Your first stop should be at the visitor center. They have very useful maps and information about the sites & wildlife that you might see while visiting this National Preserve. A word to the wise: buy gasoline before you leave Vegas. It is a lot more expensive at the few gas stations located around the Desert!

The Mojave Desert National Preserve is definitely a worthwhile drive. Various things to see during your visit include: cacti, joshua trees, lava beds, sand dune and animal species. The lava bed and lava rocks lying beside the road was very interesting. Make sure and gas up prior to entering the preserve.

Not much to say about this desert thats just what it was a dry and rather boreing desert

By this time after 2 weeks on a tour coach going to the grand canyon and all the valleys and national parks between it just seemed so plain

Most people on the bus slept through this so I wasn't the only one who felt this way

Maybe if we had seen it at sunset I would have been more impressed
