Owner description: Though arid and harsh, the Mojave Desert is home to over 200 endemic plant species and only one kind of tree, the Joshua Tree.

I stopped here on a roadtrip home from Seattle. We stopped by the Kelso Dunes, and the Granite Mountains. It was a beautiful area, and lots of nice scenery driving through, but the dunes and mountains weren't really worth the hike IMO.

Visited parts of the Mojave desert as part of my last US visit. Within the visit I looked at Las Vegas, Red Canyon, Death Valley and some other areas. The desert is huge and never really gets cold.

This is one of my fav places in the world. Not only is spring spectacular, but the night sky is amazing. Definitely a great place to get away from it all. BE SURE to bring whatever supplies you need because there is NO STORE nearby and no wood available for campfires.

The land is amazing to explore and wander, there are dunes, rock outcroppings and plenty of spaces to explore.

You have to be ready. Don't get caught without proper supplies. It's a desert, it's really dry, bring plenty of water, find shade. There's lots of things that can stick you and bite you. Don't walk barefoot, check your shoes if you leave them out at night... just be aware that you are entering a beautiful environment, but there's a good reason not many people live out there.

'It's definitely a story' we like to tell everyone.
Our plan was to drive from LA to Vegas in a mustang - and got there. Eventually. We got a little lost, but the actual desert was pretty awesome.
TIP: always make sure your GPS works from when you leave the car hire depot and make sure the charger works as well.
