Near Chevy Chase Circle, this neighborhood spot had always been a good alternative to the Starbucks two doors down. Did a recent visit for a quick coffee bagel visit at 1030 am. There were at most a half dozen seated customers yet the two counter folks weren't paying attention -the carafe coffee was barely warm and the "toasted" bagel had been toasted whole then sliced leaving the interior at room temperature. I had made the decision to carry out when I noticed that two tables near the register were crusted with spills. Won't be back any time soon.

Great breakfast sandwiches and bagels. The staff is downright rude. Must willing to deal with it if you go here.

It is a rough and tumble place from the outside, plastic tables outdoors and a bit run-down inside. However, they have a wide assortment of bagels that are some of the best I have ever eaten in my life, have been going back for five years. They also have great pizza by the slice or whole. Staff is polite, prices are reasonable, and better than those chain bagel factories that are everywhere. Try them !!

Don't come for the decor. But the bagels are very good, and if you like owners with attitude, then Rob is your guy.

Pumpernickels consistently has great bagels, pizza, and sandwiches. Try the chicken parmesan sandwich -- it's fantastic. The breakfast sandwich is also a treat. Reasonable prices for everything on the menu. This is an authentic neighborhood restaurant near a lot of good shops. Revamped interior.
