Great location. Luxurious hotel, wonderful staff. Our room had beautiful views, was immaculately cleaned and beautifully appointed. The club level lounge offerings are not as extensive as Ritz Carlton, there is breakfast and happy hour, period.
The hotel restaurant Muse offers a breakfast buffet and a set menu that is the same for lunch and dinner. Beautiful views and very good service. Great hotel!

The property is still well maintained and as luxurious as ever, though I can't say that bringing kids to the place is a good idea. Somehow the luxury hotel isn't designed for the little ones. The luxury is abundant but not really much for kids to do at the hotel.

The property shows its luster though it is losing it somewhat and it shows. The hotel is upkept well and the location is great too close to everything but still away from all the major tourist attractions behind the Department of Agriculture. The amenities are great and the rooms are well maintained and clean and are set up absolutely great.

I had visited with family over Thanksgiving weekend, which is sort of dead time in Washington, DC, so the rates were great. The staff at the hotel are very friendly though I may not visit the restaurants at the hotel. While service there is great it is not much for dinner or lunch IMHO but more for breakfast.

The bar in the lobby is wonderful in both food and drink and service is top notch, but I still think that more amenities for kids would make it more family friendly, so if you have a chance to visit it's a good place to stay.

Dear Alena V,

We were happy to host you and your family during the Thanksgiving holiday here at Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC.

I'm sorry that you felt that we didn't have enough amenities for children in the Hotel. To be honest, so many of our family guests spend most of their time exploring the Capital, taking advantage of the many museums, monuments, and federal government buildings that charge no admission fee to enjoy. Our Little Fans program is designed to make kids feel welcome and comfortable upon their return to the Hotel and includes the presentation of a plush MO panda upon arrival, child-sized bathrobes and slippers, special toddler-friendly bath amenities, and menus designed for kids' palettes. Of course, the one thing that families and kids love best is a dip in our heated indoor pool after a day of walking the National Mall and seeing all of the many sights.

We will review our Little Fan amenities to ensure that they meet the needs of parents and children visiting our hotel and your comments are well noted!

Please do return and visit us again soon and I hope you and your family enjoy all future travels.

Kind regards,
Dave Walsh

This is a very comfortable, quiet, and friendly high-end hotel. The rooms and guest facilities are beautifully designed and nicely maintained. The staff throughout the hotel was very helpful and attentive to our needs. The location is close to many of the primary DC sites but not in the middle of the hustle bustle of the downtown area. The surprise appearance, on the morning after Thanksgiving, of a very large and beautifully decorated lobby Christmas Tree was a joy to see! This is an excellent and very well run hotel. Highly recommend!

Dear James R,

Thank you very much for selecting Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC as the host of your Thanksgiving holiday!

Our holiday decorations are always a joy to behold and we love to see how our Lobby transforms into a proper place to celebrate this festive season.

We aren't in the middle of the congestion of downtown DC but we are very close to the brand new Wharf development located on our revitalized waterfront. I hope you had a chance to walk over and enjoy one of its 20+ new restaurants, catch a concert at the Anthem or Pearl Street Warehouse, or simply stroll the cobblestone promenade to enjoy the boats in the Washington Yacht Club harbor or the dramatic bonfire installation at the end of the Recreation Pier. If not, come back and experience Washington anew!

I hope you enjoy all of you future travels and will seek out Mandarin Oriental at one of our 33 locations worldwide.

Kind regards,
Dave Walsh

WE traveled to Washington DC for a long weekend and stayed at the Mandarin oriental and it was fantastic. WE were greeted cordially by bellmen at the door as the car was whisked away and parked for us. The staff at the front desk was friendly, helpful and competent. The bellman carried our bags to our very nice rooms that overlooked the river. the hotel had an incredible spa and I used the athletic facility every day and it was a top athletic facility and they offered a nice indoor pool. Dinning was perfect and very elegant . During the day we visited the museums, walked the "mall" and went to the theater in the evening . This is a great hotel

Room Tip: over look the river but all rooms are good
