Description: Set gently back from Capitol Hill, shaded by flowering trees and shrubs, the Morrison-Clark Restaurant, occupying the former drawing room of the original townhome built in 1864, offers an elegant, timeless option among Washington DC restaurants. The full service kitchen is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The main dining room, with its gilded mirrors, crystal chandeliers and marble fireplaces, is an ideal setting for romantic dinners, holiday reservations, or an evening escape from the city. The more casual Bar and Lounge serves lunch and evening cocktail service and during the warmer seasons, take advantage of outdoor seating on our front veranda or in the secluded courtyard.

I and my Husband needed just one night for an appointment in Washington and went ahead to book a room in this hotel after reading the reviews. Generally, it’s not too bad based on the facts we were upgraded to a mini suite coupled with the lovely sit out overlooking the road where you can hang out for some fresh breeze and movements around. The hotel is located at a very good spot. We took a nice walk down the road to get diner at an Italian restaurant. Lots of nice places within its proximity. The only downside for us are how compact the rooms are, the hot temperature at night (the AC is centrally operated so we had no control over it), and no coffee maker in the room. Nice stay but we might decide to try somewhere else next time.

A friend told us she was staying at this interesting Inn in Penn Quarter --great blend of historic architecture and modern design elements. We headed there for Saturday Brunch-- quiet, pleasant outdoor dining on its porch; above a beautiful garden and not on the street. Opted for Bloody Marys (spiced with Old Bay), the featured vegetarian salad and tomato basil flatbread pizza-- the menu has great choices; something for everyone. You will love visiting this location for its calm, elegance and eclectic design. An oasis from large hotels, meetings and the usual restaurant noise. Go.

I stopped in at lunch time and was told they were doing brunch and was the only one in the dining room. The menu was mostly breakfast items. I opted for the empanadas which were tasty, but more like an appetizer than a meal. I filled that with the apple strudel, which was a bit soggy and bland, and certainly not freshly prepared. I waited a very long time, maybe 30 minutes, for the desert. No one, no sever, no host, no one, was in the dining room that whole time. I was getting up to tell them to forget it when my server appeared with it. The excuse was they had a big party in the other room. Two more minutes without having a in the dining room I would have been gone.

Nice vibe, a little spendy on drink prices, good bar tenders with personality. Love the old hotel and location near convention center.
