We had one night in D.C. for dinner and randomly chose Logan Tavern. What a delightful experience. Service was excellent. Dishes are carefully planned and well-spiced. The casareccio bread was just like we used to get in Italy. The burger was perfect. The steak frites was a little tough but quite tasty. Key lime pie was good, although a small portion. The crab cakes were among the best we have ever had.

We were staying at the nearby Madison Hotel when we walked to Logan Tavern. Adam, our server, was amazing. We had their large pretzel for an appetizer which I recommend. Their cosmo cocktail was well done and we loved the chocolate brownie dessert.

I was surprised by the poor service we received after reading the reviews here. We dined on a slow Sunday evening and among the issues were not being given a kid's menu for our kid (we found out after the waitress questioned our order for our kid), having the waitress dart away after we ordered drinks without waiting for the food order or the order for the kid, not getting refills of water without asking (then a carafe showed up), no water for the kid even though we later saw kid cups going to another table and even a bowl of water to the dog outside, no silverware for the kid, having to ask for ketchup when the burgers and fries were served, the stupid 'I'll just interrupt your conversation to give you dessert menus despite you saying no and then delay your check for ten minutes because the waitress disappears' song and dance, not having the check when eventually retrieving the unwanted menus and ignoring direct eye contact while trying to get the waitress's attention because we want to pay the bill and LEAVE. The meal took nearly two hours for a shared appetizer and entrees. That's way too long. I contacted the restaurant through open table and did not receive a response.
The burgers were cooked to temperature, but ridiculously rich. I'd suggest ordering with maybe half the toppings listed. The calamari was also good, but again very rich. I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The fried breading was good, but the calamari just became a vehicle for fried and was lost in the dish. The french fries were mushy and gross and were mostly left untouched. The salad options were underwhelming and nothing of note. The kiddo loved the mashed potatoes after someone with a burger lent a fork. I tasted them later and I think they were butter, cream and garlic with a dash of potato.
For good service, don't make us wait 5 minutes for a high chair after arriving on time for a reservation where we included a note that we need a high chair. The opportunity to impress was there. This restaurant failed.

Been there twice during a business trip to Washington, DC. Had the pork shoulder first and since that one was so delicious I came back a second time for a decent steak. Both dishes were really good and the service warm and welcoming. Definitely worth a recommendation!

Steak frites were very good. Marinated flank steak was extremely flavorful. Hand cut fries were very good and they gave you a ton of them. Limited menu but everyone enjoyed their selections. Sat outside and watch the world go by.
