Went to Le Chat Noir on Thursday and the 3 of us serious "foodies" all laughed when we agreed we had never been to Le Chat Noir despite it being in DC for some time. Service was sketchy from beginning to end.....but move past that to an absolutely awesome dining experience. The food was extraordinary....halibut fricassee with leek fondue was over the top and the beef bourguignon had just the right amount of delightful carrots and pearl onions with lovely pasta base. Salads were refreshing and while the crusty fresh made French bread was over the top we only got one piece each due to the very poor service. Not sure I would take out of town guests here again due to service.....which is truly a shame since their food was outstanding.

I found an online coupon for brunch and figured we couldn't lose. It was like stepping into a French Bistro with lovely service, sweet ambiance and amazing food. It is clear that there is a trained chef hiding in the kitchen creating masterpieces. The bread is homemade and served hot with fresh butter. We received a full bottle of champagne and fresh orange juice-non-stop delicious mimosas to enjoy with 3 courses including what I suspect was farm-to-table cuisine. Dessert was the most amazing crepe I've ever had. The only downside was that we didn't have time to come back for a 2nd meal. Don't think twice-make a reservation and head out to Friendship Heights when coming to D.C.!

We were gifted a night out at this restaurant and are so thankful! It is a great find. The service was terrific - servers paid close attention without "hovering". We were seated immediately, even though we were early for our reservation. The place was packed but didn't feel crowded. We never felt rushed. And the food - oh the food was delicious!!!

We both agree that the best thing we ordered was from the appetizer list - the tartiflette. Oh man, seriously delicious!! The olives were also a very nice appetizer (which we kept and nibbled on throughout the meal). The baguette - best we have had in DC. For our entrees we chose the bijoux de boeuf au poivre (cooked to perfection and super yummy) and the poulet au cidre (good, but not as good as the beef).

We had a lovely time. Good date place. The restaurant feels Parisian, without the yapping poodles and cigarette smoke. :) We will be back.

I really enjoyed my meal here. The atmosphere was nice and my beef entre was well prepared and all the flavors it was paired with went well together. One complaint would be that my cauliflower soup was a little bland. Overall, good service, good food, good atmosphere.

This is a great neighborhood restaurant- cozy, friendly, well-prepared French food, and not too expensive. The only reason for the four star instead of the five star review is that the prix fixe Valentine's Day meal was not as good as ordering a la carte.
