Rasika does not disappoint. The vegetarian dishes are especially pleasing and unique (try the smoked lentils, you won’t regret!). Atmosphere is modern and relaxing at the same time, no wonder the Obamas love this place. Service was well timed although their busy-bee aggressiveness on filling water glasses was pretty amusing.

Sat at bar (first come, first serve after 530 PM) and had great meal, small portions but flavorful, best lamb chops we've ever had. Well worth price, great value.

This is a good restaurant with carefully crafted food. And it’s the food that is a twist on traditional Indian dishes that are its best fare. The spinach chaat for example is excellent. Where it does less well is on the food you would traditionally get in a restaurant in North India. On these dishes, for the prices they charge, it’s good but not great. (I say this as someone who lived & eaten in Delhi for 9 years & travelled the whole of South Asia)
So if you’re charging this to your expense account then it’s a no brainer but if it’s your own hard earned cash you’ll find better value elsewhere.

A great combination of traditional Indian & contemporary rethinking. Try the crispy spinach appetizer. Also a first rate cocktail mixmaster.

I had dinner at the Rasika on D Street NW in January, 2018, with three friends. We all shared the fried kale appetizer and four different entrees. They were all excellent. We also shared a bottle of wine from their extensive selection of fine wines (I think we had a Riesling). Service was pleasant and reasonably prompt considering it was a busy Friday night and the place was mobbed. It was standing room only at the bar. Check out their menu online. If you want to go on a weekend, be sure to make your reservation six weeks in advance. This is a very popular place. Not inexpensive, but well worth the money.
